There are lots of things that I buy online... running shoes are not one of them. I've learned my lesson. You just can't beat a live expert who can help you out, and that's just what this store has.
I supinate and have sustained several frustrating injuries. Sam listened carefully while I described each injury. He asked questions. I've been to doctors who have been less interested. He analyzed my gait by recording me on the treadmill. BEFORE we even looked at a single shoe, he recommended that I start doing exercises to strengthen my ankles and showed me a device that could help. I am going to do those! I'm especially impressed because a store doesn't make money on someone doing exercises... which shows how much this place puts the customer first.
Turns out Sam also supinates (an unusual problem for a runner, and one that is pretty hard to get helpful information on). He listed all of the shoes that he has tried and showed me some of the ones that have helped him. He gave me pointers about the insoles that I have been using. He patiently worked with me while I tried on like 10 pairs of shoes. Eventually I settled on a pair of Altras that I love. Fingers crossed that they help my issues! (And if they don't, they were still less expensive than a single doctor's visit, which hasn't helped...
Read moreGreat store drove 45min up from Stroudsburg, was looking to get a pair of inov-8 was assisted by Joe. They did not have my size, mentioned to Joe that most of my running in south Louisiana consisted of dirt and blacktop. Joe recommend a pair of LA Sportiva, for my kind of terrain went ahead and made the purchase. The store was fantastic service second to none wish there was one like it in my area.
Since I was staying so close to the Delaware water gap figured I would give the shoes a try on the Mt. Tammany loop. Took the red dot up and the blue dot down, going up on the red was more of a scramble bring the steeper part of the loop. The shoes performed perfectly no real movement on the feet, I did feel a bit of a rub on the back right heal at first it but it subsided fairly quickly. The blue trail down consist of many rocky portions and some great bear dirt sections. The LA Sportiva's provided just enough cushion to make the jags of the rocks hardly noticeable. They gripped superbly on the bear dirt areas and made the run quite enjoyable. My only complaint is the left shoes sole in the front where it wraps up the toe has come unglued in a section. Disappointing and since I live in south Louisiana guess I'll have to see what kind of customer service LA Sportiva provides...
