This is a pretty great venue! This place is HUGE! And pretty classy. We traveled here for the '16 NEPA (North Eastern PA) Holiday Show, which was a punk rock show. The Menzingers headlined. They were terrific. Actually, there were SIX bands in the entire lineup. Props to the staff for quick teardowns and setups between sets, and also for tending to the never-ending crowd surfing (which was pretty good-natured, but still, be ready and watch out for a shoe in the face if you're going to a show like this). But as for the place itself: spacious hallways, a nice wide stage (and pretty easy to navigate to the front; the drinking area is sectioned off to the side, which probably reduced the density a bit). There's an upstairs wrap-around balcony, plenty of bathroom stalls, tons of room for merch tables. Water was only 50 cents, which was great. This show was set up for standing room only, my favorite kind of setup. I do believe there are other types of shows that happen here that are seated, as when the curtain behind the stage lifted we could see rows and rows of installed seats facing the stage from the other direction. This place is HUGE! Also, there's a nearby parking garage just a block or two down on Washington that didn't show up on Google Maps that was practically empty. Would definitely go here...
Read moreHad a great surprise from my wife who took me to see Riverdance for St. Patrick's Day! What a wonderful production! The show itself would have received five stars. Unfortunately I was very displeased overall with the staff and the way they run things. I've been to many shows here and have always used their connecting parking lot. This time however, we found it closed and no signage in front indicating such. We had to use a municipal parking garage about three blocks away and the line to pay the ticket after the show was horrendous. Staff is not very friendly at all, we had to wait 30 minutes outside to even get in, which in turn caused the show to start late. At the beginning of the show someone in the front row started taping a small bit of it and a pack of old lady ushers came to the front row and started yelling at her. It was done again to someone behind me, when another female usher started yelling at him very unprofessionally to stop recording. Towards the end, she stood against the stage staring at everyone to see if anyone else might be taping anything, and she was blocking my view. Never saw such unprofessional actions by staff the way I...
Read moreThe customer service at the Scranton Culteral Center is not the best. We had tickets for this evenings performance of Cats to find out that our show was rescheduled. After calling the phone number to exchange our tickets we were told we had to do it at the box office after I told the woman I purchased the Tickets through Ticketmaster. She said I had to do it at the box office and they close at 5pm. After driving 30 minutes to get there a rude person said he could not help us. I tried explaining to him that this was what we were told to do and he was very rude to both my daughter who drove there and to me on when I called on the phone. He said they were extremely busy. My daughter who was still there said there was no one there they weren't busy. Very disappointed at this moment. Ticketmaster will not allow us to do this using the phone so we need to get to a computer now. Again, have better training for your Customer Service Reps! If it would allow no stars that is what I would give! Update: We did receive a call from a Jason at the Culteral Center and he was helpful. He stated that they are looking into the issues of their Box...
