Read moreBeautiful beach in Seattle. You can watch boats, people, birds or the clouds rolling by. If you’re lucky you might get to see seals or other natural beauties, btw the seals leave their pups on the beach sometimes while they go hunt, be warned, not to disturb them, they aren’t abandoned, they are just resting and they are legally protected. It’s the best beach in Seattle for things like making sand castles and picnics, enjoying the scenery, but the water is quite cold year round, of course during hot weather some folks do jump in, especially the kids but it’s not really a swimming beach. No life guards, no swimming area, seriously the water is cold, lol. Alki has a nice walking trail next to it and a lane for bikes, skateboards and pedal powered trolleys that you can rent. It has volleyball posts, fire pits, bathrooms and there are lots of little restaurants and coffee shops across the street in a strip that’s a few blocks long. Parking on the weekend is tight as the park fills up a bit, people like to cruise the strip in nice cars and motorcycles. Its the closest thing we have to a beach scene like you would find in warmer places, we just don’t really swim like you would in California. I’ll add better pictures another day. There are some great events that take place here throughout the summer, on those days it will be very crowded and your best best might be to take the Alki Water taxi over from downtown (a fun trip in itself, occasionally you’ll see whales) and stop for tacos at Marination Station then do the extremely long walk along the water to Alki Beach or catch a bus that runs along the way or grab one of the app based rental bikes that are lying...
