I haven't had acrylic nails in almost 15 years and decided to finally treat myself. I went to NK nails because they had a lot of reviews, but I'm sad to say that I was left really unhappy with my experience. To start, the staff was not the most friendly. When I checked in at the front desk, the man laughed at me when I asked if they could do nail art designs. The lady who did my nails was quiet and took phone calls during my session. I was surprised they didn't do anything to treat or trim my cuticles, which made my nails end up looking rough. One week after wearing the nails they already showed signs of wear and you could actually see the sides of my real nails popping out the sides as they hadn't trimmed them correctly. You could also see THROUGH the polish (see images). I work from home on the computer and generally don't do anything that would warrant this kind of wear. I am now two weeks in and the nails are starting to pop off from the top of the nail bed after I shower. Really upset I paid $70 for nails that didn't even last two weeks, and that looked horrible after only the first 7 days... will not go back.

I had been searching for a nail salon near me for sometime. I was thrilled to come across NK nails given its size, walk-in availability (no appointment needed), location and prices. One other perk is the fact that I didn’t feel as if I was being stared at for being the only male taking care of my claws and paws. After all, I’m on my feet a lot for work so this pampering is necessary. I was assigned Tiffany, who was very nice and offered me an alcoholic drink upon getting settled in my seat. I went with a glass of red wine to help me relax and be less ticklish while I soaked my feet in toasty warm water and enjoyed the automated massage chair. I had no idea my pedicure had included a clay mask, paraffin wax, and a lotion massage all for $50. I was in heaven! I am surprised that the reviews are this low since I had such a great experience. I left with silky smooth feet and legs free of calluses or dry spots. Men, be sure to check it out for yourself.

I have only had gel manicures 2 times before this time. I went because I had engagement photos and wanted my nails to look nice. When I left everything seemed fine. People are nice, color was pretty and paint was even. I did notice that there was gel polish on my cuticles but it wasn’t super obvious and I thought would be fine. However, 3 days later and I realize why this is not fine. As my nails have grown, the polish that was on my cuticles is sharp and catches on everything. Out of 10 nails, I have one that is done correctly. Lessons were learned for me. I definitely won’t go back to NK nails. They are so busy and rushed that they don’t take the time to do a good job no matter how friendly they are. But I have learned what to watch for and won’t leave a salon with gel polish on my cuticles again.

RACISM of any kind is unacceptable. Overt public racism by a business that caters to a community in this city, at this time needs to be, at the very least, called out. It's unacceptable and completely disgusting.

My wife and daughters planned a special day that included getting their nails done at NK NAILS. While they were there, they overheard the salon employee "Mary" and a few older white women (disclaimer: I am also white, so I hope it's okay for me to say that) laughing and making racial jokes while a young African American girl in her 20's was sitting not too far away, and was obviously hearing the conversation that Mary and her White Ladies made no attempt to extinguish.

My oldest daughter overheard and immediately made it a point to let my wife & other daughter know what was happening. They immediately brought it to the attention of the two gentlemen who own NK NAILS, along with identifying which employees were spewing the racial comments & ongoing conversation. By this time, the girl who had been listening to the filth was trying to hold back her tears, but not able to.

After it became apparent that the ownership at NK NAILS was not going to do anything about the racist environment they allow, other than to say that "they have bi-racial" family members (which apparently means that you can have hurtful, RACIST conversations but allows you a free pass to do so), my wife and daughter paid for the girls' bill before leaving, letting the owners know that they will never patronize their nail spa again (disclaimer two: they collectively went there a lot in the past). I don't include this to make them out to be anything more than we all should be: human beings who care about human beings. Rather, I am so disappointed (by now not surprised, unfortunately) that NK NAILS had the audacity to NOT, at the VERY LEAST, pay for her charges.

In the end, my family made a wonderful new friend outside of NK NAILS who is also studying the same major as one of our daughters. After some more tears & exchange of contact info, they are all getting together after the holidays.

In closing, I hope the other people who were at NK NAILS and overheard this will consider making it a point to stand up and make your voice heard when you hear hurtful conversations or see things that you know are wrong. You should have done what my daughter did. Unfortunately, there will be many more opportunities to do so. You may even make a...

I wish I could give zero stars for this review: I just left from receiving by far the most lousy powder dip fill that I have ever had. For one, the ladat doing my nails had a TERRIBLE attitude and was very aggressive while grabbing my hands during my service, repeatedly asking me to “relax”. There was no way possible that I could relax with her horrible energy in my presence. She watched a movie on her phone throughout my entire service, yet rolled her eyes every time my phone received a notification. Her demeanor was just terrible and I’m not sure if it was me personally or her just having a bad day, either way that is not how you treat a PAYING CUSTOMER who made the choice to come to your establishment. To add assault to the horrible service I received, let me not forget to mention that I did not receive any cuticle oil on my hands or lotion at the end of my service. Who really does that!!?? Never again, by far the worst experience I have ever had. By the way I am not sure of the techs name but I do know she was the only person in there without an apron or uniform top on. She was in regular clothes and sits at station number 8… she should be avoided at all costs. Do not waste your time or energy at this place! No customer...

On Monday (17th) I got my nails done and they are shellac. By Monday night my thumb already peeled off and I went in on Tuesday to get it redone and tonight my index finger peeled off and they are already chipped. I would understand if I had a super physical job, but I have a desk job for the most part and like maybe 1% I move a few boxes that weight less than 10lbs. I've had shellac before and it lasted me a month this time not even a week. The whole "experience" was messed up. First they didn't give me enough time to really pick the color I wanted, this manicure was $25 which she did it while I got a pedicure and the manicurist made me hold the light thing to dry the shellac, and I told them I wanted the $50 pedicure and they were like "you know that's $50".....like yeah that's what I want (I guess they didn't think I could afford it) I found out they only did the $25 pedicure and that's why they only charged me for $25. I didn't mind the $50 price tag (total) because they rushed and I didn't feel it was worth it and they I wasn't worth their time. I would never go back to NK nails in Westwood Village and I would never recommend this place to anyone. I hardly ever get my nails done, but I feel 100%...
