I've enjoyed casino and poker room experiences before at places such as Treasure Island and Running Aces, but had never visited here until recently. I just happened to be in the area for a few hours and stopped by to satisfy my curiosity. And honestly, I wasn't impressed. Sure, there are things about Canterbury Park that are clearly very good, but my first impression was that this place is trying so hard to be some kind of Vegas-type poker room, it felt a little grubby and unfriendly. Given that this is such a popular haunt for many poker players, they onviously know their target market extremely well, but I did not see a single person who looked like they were actually enjoying the experience. Miserable faces throughout, as the soul-sucking atmosphere emptied the wallets of folks who didn't seem to be having any fun whatsoever. I put my name on the board, intending to play, but the dark energy I felt swirling around every table was more than enough to change my mind. I spent less than an hour here. And that was about one hour too long. I do see plenty of plus points. I do understand why others like going here. Not for me, though. I'd rather have...
Read moreCanterbury Park truly outdid itself hosting Theory of a Deadman. I recently caught their show there, and what an experience it was. The venue really felt alive, creating the perfect backdrop for a band that knows how to command a stage. From the moment the music started, the energy was just electric. The sound quality was spot-on, letting every riff and vocal hit just right, which isn't always a given at outdoor shows. The band, of course, was incredible – they sounded fantastic and really engaged the crowd. It was clear everyone there, myself included, was having a genuinely great time. Beyond the music, Canterbury Park itself handled the event smoothly. Getting in and finding our spot was easy, and the overall atmosphere was just really welcoming. It’s always a good sign when a venue can manage a big crowd without a hitch, making the whole evening feel relaxed and enjoyable. This show was a perfect example of Canterbury Park stepping up as a great spot for live music. If they keep bringing in acts like Theory of a Deadman and maintaining this level of experience, I’ll definitely be back for more. It was a fantastic night all...
