We, 2 moms with 6 20-23 year olds adult boys and girls children and friends, spent more than 3 hours here the eve of Thanksgiving. We had Erin and Kay helping all 8 of us which was a lot of work for them. It might have been better if we had another helper for the 8 of us.
Everyone had a great time and the projects all turned out so good (all wood plank projects). I don’t suggest bringing meals while working since it’s a lot of work and you would have to go to another empty table to eat between waiting time. My family ate first and then got a couple bottles of wine at the house wine across the street (asked for plastic cups too) to bring to the workshop. You do need to bring your own bottle opener and glasses/cups. Having drinks only was perfect. I wish I had planned on the colors to use before hand so I didn’t have to spend so long picking colors.
The projects itself was not hard but take time and work. It was money well spent for the time with my adult children and for the project. A lot of us want to go back to do the “chunk knit blankets”...
Read moreI got to experience AR Workshop for the first time with my job’s holiday party! We were a large group, so we had booked the place for just us. I was impressed at the vast choices of projects we could choose from, and it was really cool to not only see my project come to life, but to see what others chose and got to make!
I chose to make a personalized photo “frame”, where the photos attached with clips as opposed to a standard frame with glass. I loved this style of frame for the rustic style it had, and I had a ton of choices when it came to stains and techniques to customize my wood backing. I chose to do a dry brushing technique to give my piece a more weathered appearance. Kay and Mary were such a big help in showing me how to do the techniques so my project would look the best it could. They were so helpful to everyone, and were so patient with us as we were a large group and had a ton of questions!
It was such a fun experience, I will definitely be back and bring some new...
Read moreThis place was just ok. Went for a bridal shower. Fairly small venue with sort of shabby chic, modern decor. Plenty of parking in a public lot a few minutes away. The projects are cute but I think they are over-priced. There were some cracks in the wood tray I did. The experience is just not 75 bucks worth of fun, especially since you have to bring your own food and drinks. It's a piece of wood, a one use stencil and a 1/4 cup of latex paint.
Our teacher seemed very put upon from the get go. I'm not sure what we did. She was short with most of the members of our group and did not look like she wanted to be there. I get it's work but come on. Part of the problem may be that one person was trying to show 6 people how to do 5 different things. Just not a...
