My boyfriend and I decided spur of the moment after very little research to pop into The Whitney House for dinner on a Friday night. We googled places near us to eat, chose that one and put in a reservation about an hour before arriving, not taking the time to look at the menu or reviews because we figured we just wanted to try something different as we are new to the Columbus area. Let me start with-- that was the best decision we could have made! The hostess was friendly and let us know when we got in we'd be sat within 10-15 minutes as they were busy, and a manager came within the first seven minutes and got us sat and comfortable in a table I had watched her clean for a server! She took the time to have us stand aside for a server who was delivering food, which showed consideration for that server, the tables food, and explained to us about the history of the place as she did so as to not make us feel ignored. She explained they had just reopened this week from a remodel and had a full new menu, and let us know if we had any questions we could feel free to stop her. Our server Sean was promptly out to greet us, and also reiterate about their grand reopening, and quick to give us a few suggestions of drinks, appetizers, and main course options that he and guests loved. He filled our waters, frequently asked questions and checked in with us, and even bagged our food for us, while we watched him juggle the needs of the four tables around us gracefully. I expressed my pleasure with our meal-- and dessert, which was by far the best thing to have ever graced my lips, and Sean pointed out the executive chef, who was in the window plating and helping su chefs and servers alike with whatever he could. He suggested I stop by and express my opinions on our meal, and that it would really make his night to hear how we enjoyed everything. We thanked him, and I (hesitantly) approached the window to the kitchen on the way out. John, the chef, looking so busy helping his staff, was friendly and humble when I questioned him about the menu items I had. I told him of my dad's love for burgers, and how we have been to the most famous burger places in the US, and his BY FAR blew theirs out of the water! He expressed his love for cooking and the freshness and quality of the ingredients he has shipped from out of state. While he was telling us about the care he puts into his food and the menu, he was still plating, wiping down, and handing off food to servers without missing a beat. He thanked us for our time and said he looked forward to seeing us again. The manager (the very same that sat us) stopped us on the way out to ensure we had a great experience as she knew it was our first time. She was warm and friendly and welcomed us back anytime. The passion and care this restaurant expressed to my boyfriend and I on a busy Friday night when they could have pushed us out of the door was heart warming and reassuring that we made the right choice. Not only was our food absolutely incredible, tasting how lovingly each item was put together and spiced, but the welcoming the staff gave us makes me hope that any single person in Ohio, or just passing through, takes the time to enjoy this restaurant and everything they have to offer. 10/10, would eat again, and plan on it soon! Our meal wasn't cheap, which is something we planned on as we tried a four course meal (with alcoholic drinks) and it was worth every penny! The staff renewed my passion for the food service industry (that I've been a part of for the last 10 years) and I couldn't be more grateful! We will be visiting again!

Let me start off by saying that the actual servers are amazing and the food is too. We will return to the restaurant. HOWEVER, lets go into what happened today. My office is located in Worthington and I like supporting my local business so I took my 70 year old grandmother for lunch before we stepped into afternoon meetings at our office. We went to the back door ( Where we have entered time and time again in the past 2 weeks) and stood there waited to be seated. The bartender (2/26/20 Around 1 in the afternoon) took his time to look over towards the door to see us standing there. When he looked over, it honestly felt like he was judging us in how we were dressed ( Sorry Mr. Bartender, I'm a plumber by trade and I don't dress fancy like the clientele you are accustomed to). He then says "Hey, you need to walk around to the front of the building that's where the hostess stand is". Looking around and seeing the atmosphere of the area where we normally sit, you can tell we weren't fitting his criteria to sit in his area. So that's cool, we go around to the front ( The door was locked) and then find the second side door. We then get seated by our server. Our Server ( The red haired young lady) WAS FANTASTIC. I asked to speak with the manager and the manager came over and I voiced my concerns. She said she was going to speak with him. The manager was apologetic and awesome too. We had lunch and the food was fantastic. I paid the bill and then this is where this review comes from. In walks Mr.Bartender and he approaches our table. He then proceeds to say, " I just wanted to make sure were o.k here". I told him " No were not, and im going to educate you in the world of customer service real quick". I said " When you see a client walk in to your section with his 70 year old grandmother, you DON'T tell them to go back outside and walk around". He says " I NEVER ONCE SAID THAT". So here we are, bickering back and forth in the main dining room with this moronic bartender arguing with me over him being rude to us. He then repeats that "I never once said that" again and I told him "were done talking". I get up to walk out with my grandmother and the manager herself seemed blown away that member of staff decided to approach a patron and become argumentative over a situation they caused.

To those of you who choose to dine here. THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC. If you walk in the back door with Blue Jeans on and a grandmother who is wearing a flannel shirt and blue jeans and this bartender is working, be prepared to be judged and told to walk...

From everything I've heard about this place, I always assumed it was a brunch/breakfast place. So a friend and I looking for a place to eat, we both realized we have been, and have wanted to try this place for some time. We made a reservation online and headed over. This place has it all. Nice location, great looking interior, professional staff, and wonderful food, I literally just want to order one of everything here. I have a feeling I will be back here often when I have the opportunity.

For starters, while we waited for our seats, we grabbed a drink at the bar. I had the Marureen O'Hara, which I really enjoyed. Once seated, we went with the Brie and Goat cheese "snacks". These were very good, especially the brie dish, it had some amazing layers of flavors. We also ordered the clams and adouille. Which was very tasty, the broth was so flavorful, lots of sausage and clams, however, it only came with two crostini's, this dish could really use four or more with the amounts of everything you get and how else to soak up the rest of that delicious broth! I'm sure I could have asked for more, but I hate doing that sometimes.

For the main's my friend ordered the hangar steak and I had the quail etouffee. I've never had quail before, and they nailed it, cooked perfectly and the flavors in this dish are amazing. You get a good amount of food with this dish, and I can't believe I ate everything. My friends hangar steak was very good too. The chimichurri sauce smells and tasted so wonderful with the steak. The house fries are very good also, they had the perfect amount of crunch to softness on them.

Once the dessert menu came out, I really didn't think I could really eat anymore. But they have these boozy floats and I was curious about them. Went with the Bourbon that had dark chocolate ice cream and cherry cream soda. It was a great way to finish such a enjoyable meal.

I left here very satisfied. For all drinks, starters, mains and dessert, I definitely got my...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6.6 / 10 (3 Stars) The Whitney House has both highlights and disappointments, making this one of the most contrasting experiences we’ve had in Columbus dining. The Bar: Outstanding. The back bar staff are true mixologists — highly knowledgeable in technique, liquor, and cocktail history. Watching them work and chatting with them was a delight. If I were rating only the bar, I’d give it an 8.8/10. The Dining Room: Unfortunately, the dining service was extremely poor — almost beneath the level of service you’d expect at Skyline Chili. Our server took our order, delivered food, and dropped the check with no engagement. No refills on water (despite asking three times), no follow-up on how the meal was, and no chance to order cocktails at the table because the server never returned. For a restaurant at this price point, service should lead the experience. Food: • Appetizers: The cornbread skillet was overpriced, dry, and served cold in a skillet more for presentation than taste. The pierogi were flavorful and plated nicely, but only three arrived for a table of four, and no guidance was given by the server to order more. • Entrées: The shrimp pasta and mushroom gnocchi were both very good — bright flavors, balanced vegetables, and well-prepared. A grilled lemon on the shrimp pasta would have elevated it, but overall, both dishes were worth ordering again. Atmosphere: Small and intimate, but the lighting was harsh for an 8 pm dinner. The bar area was lively but overly noisy, making conversation difficult. Overall: Great bar, solid entrées, but service ruined the evening. With so many exceptional restaurants in Columbus, we cannot recommend The Whitney House for dinner. Drinks at the bar? Absolutely. Dinner in the dining room? Sadly, no.

I showed up on a Friday around 7:00, so pretty close to peak rush hour. I was alone and they sat me at the bar. There were three bartenders who were very busy. I must admit it was kind of fun to watch the bartenders since they mixed a lot of interesting looking drinks. They took the time to discuss the menu options to make sure I ended up with something I would like. The walleye was absolutely amazing. They mostly managed to keep my drink filled. There was at least a 15 minute delay if not longer between when I finished my walleye and before I was asked about dessert. Why the delay? Because those bartenders were crazy busy. When they did ask me about my preference for dessert, they not only took the time to discuss the options, but someone did an in-depth look at what was added cuz I told him I was afraid there was something I would not like on one of them. Turns out there was something I wouldn't like on one of them, for them taking the extra time was greatly appreciated. I got a fabulous dessert that I really enjoyed. To take away is, things might be a little slow when they're busy; and that is what I expect when they're busy. But even when they are very busy, they will still take the individual time required to make certain you get what you need. It was overall a great experience. This is a Coke shop.

The food at this restaurant is just okay. Nothing exceptional, but not terrible either. However, the service we received was what truly left a bad impression. I ordered a sandwich that arrived completely soaked. The waitress noticed it but still handed it to me without a word and then walked away. I had to ask another waiter for help, and he was very accommodating, quickly replacing the dish for me. The worst part of the experience, though, was our waitress, Ederlin. From the moment she approached our table, she seemed uninterested and impatient. When we were finally ready to order, she was nowhere to be found. Despite my attempts to get her attention, she ignored me, rolled her eyes, and walked off to the other side of the restaurant. It wasn’t until I spoke to the other waiter that she reluctantly came back to take our order. Even after that, she would leave without checking if we needed anything else, making it seem like she was in a hurry to get rid of us. The whole experience felt rushed and dismissive. If this is the standard of service here, I would recommend going elsewhere. The lack of professionalism made an otherwise mediocre meal frustrating and unpleasant.
