What a pretty little theatre. It has old school charm, and when we went it was under construction/renovation, so I won't hold that against them.
We went to see Dark Side of the Rainbow Pink Floyd/Wizard of Oz mash up. The sound quality and video quality was fine, but it was a little janky to see the DVD menu and scenes be selected on the big screen. It made it less of a cinematic experience and more like I'm watching something in my living room.
My fellow movie watchers were also not too great. There were people straight up on the phone, holding their phone up to record things, taking selfies. It was super distracting and annoying and no one seemed to care.
I appreciated that they were selling drinks and that they had the cast of the local production of Wizard of Oz there for pictures.
I'd see stuff here again, but I'd lower my...
Read moreThe Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives was one of the best shows I've ever seen. While this venue constantly brings in tribute performers, MARTY STUART is the real deal. When you can host a talent like this, YOU SHOULD! Marty's performance of Orange Blossom Special, along with his narrative about the song, was TRANSFORMATIVE! The vocal talent both as soloists and to deliver beautifully balanced three part and even 4 part harmony was delightful. When the bass player moved over to the drums, the lead guitar played bass and the drummer sang lead, the excellent musicianship of this group shown brightly. I am grateful that the Weil Center could bring such high quality entertainment...
Read moreSaw Leonid & Friends. Great show, but I had two very drunk people next to me that never shut up thru the whole show, even when I asked them to please be respectful of those around them. Then they kept insisting that they were the vocal and horn coaches for the band. I'm calling total BS. I'm very confident that the only way they would know the band is if I would have payed the $100 for them to do the meet and greet with the band! Beautiful facility, but they way overserved these people. Drunk and obnoxious ruins the experience for those who are more interested in the music and less interested in stumbling out of the venue after getting up a dozen times for more drinks and...
