We stayed here to visit family in the area. The hotel itself is generally clean, but a little dated. The room is clean. We could hear people next door talking loud so the walls are pretty much no soundproof barrier. Fitness center could use update on equipment and additional weights. Check in went smoothly and the desk receptionist was accommodating that time. Breakfast was ok. ||We requested a late check out. The next day, the hotel had a different receptionist. That pretty much went downhill right there. We were supposed to check out at noon. I was getting a cart to bring to our room at 11 am. Went back up to our floor (3rd floor) and the key stopped working. I went down to see the receptionist to give us access to our room and she was rude. She didn't even bother responding verbally but just grabbed my key and reprogrammed it. I was very polite and thankful. I walked back up to our room and the key didn't work so I went back downstairs again to let her know. This happened 4x and every time, she wasn't at the desk. I had to ring the bell. She wasn't apologetic or nothing! She gave me a different key card. At that point, I told her that I'd check the key to the pool and fitness center to see if it works and it did. Walked up to the third floor and key didn't work again. She sighed a couple of times and told me "I don't know what to tell you. I reprogrammed it every time."||I was getting irritated and asked her why the key wasn't working, and I also gave her the new key card with the sleeve that says our room number. I tried again and it didn't work. The sixth time, I went downstairs and talked to her, she finally said with a rude expression, "I'll have to go up there and unlock it for you." I started walking back and I was assuming she did also because I heard her walk out of the reception area. I went up to our floor and sat on the cart outside our room and waited for at least 15-20 minutes! This is ridiculous! Come to find out, she didn't even check our room number. She went on the second floor and had the key reprogrammed on the wrong room! She came upstairs, and unlocked our room and didn't even apologize!||I am very disappointed with the hotel staff that morning. Customer Service is terrible, and we felt like for the amount we paid at that hotel in Sheboygan, it's not worth it. I will not recommend this hotel in...
Read moreWe spent Christmases at the GrandStay in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Initially, it was pet friendly, but when when we returned this year for the first time after the pandemic, it felt more like pets were reluctantly tolerated. Our initial visits were in a room with a whirlpool tub. This is no longer available for guests with pets. This year, the courtyard had a new no dogs allowed sign. We were also asked not to bring our dog through the lobby or public areas, and bring her inside through the back door closest to our rooms.
This year, I booked a room with 2 queen beds. I called the hotel to let them know we had a dog and to please make sure that was part of our reservation, as I had done in previous years. When we arrived, we found out for the first time that because we had a dog, our reservation was not honored and we had been booked into a room with a single queen bed. Additionally, I had to sign a form, which I didn't get a copy of, listing a number of potential fees for rules our dog might violate, with blank monetary amounts. I mentioned this to the woman working at the check-in desk (who was totally friendly and great) and she said the fee was $25 dollars, but it sounded like she didn't know about all of the different fees on this form and I figured that that wasn't her fault as she didn't create the form. I signed it because since we'd already arrived, and I didn't know what alternative there was for us and our dog, unless we wanted to sleep in the car. Then we received a copy of the new pet policy, which was not unreasonable, although it has a pretty passive-aggressive tone. "If these requests are not met, we will have to make a policy change." (They've already made numerous policy changes since 2017.)
For the record, during any of our stays, we never let our dog in any tub, or the pool, or took her into the dining area during mealtime. She never had an "accident" in a room. We never even left her in a room alone for fear should would make noise, which, as you can imagine, limited our activities during our visit. I don't know what happened to change the tone of the pet policy. If there were dog owners who acted poorly, I wish that they had been held responsible instead of---...
