The room itself was very well done. It was beautiful and immersive and the puzzle was interesting. However, we were there on my birthday and it was a very disappointing and stressful end to the day. My family and I wished we hadn't gone and wouldn't plan to go again due to only the service. We arrived a few minutes late due to difficulty navigating the mall. They explained that there was a 5 minutes grace period and then the timer would start and we understood. We completed the waivers and tried to submit them, but it wouldn't go through after several attempts. There was no paper option so they had us keep trying after starting our timer. I understand losing a bit of time if we were late, but having only 5 minutes was not enough time to complete the waivers and get through the rules and story set up even if we had been on time. I watched the time and we only would have missed one minute signing the waivers. After they finally went through we had lost 15 minutes, and after the instructions were explained and our stuff was left in a locker we lost 5 more. They also did not help us to lock the locker, and left it unlocked while another group came to the same locker to remove their belongings from a different compartment. The person guiding us wanted us to pay attention to her rather than the people coming in while she was giving instructions, but we were concerned with our belongings not being safe in the locker. In putting down our bags and phones we leave them vulnerable with our personal information, ID and insurance cards, and other valuable items. My mother and I did not have pockets to carry these items in. I wish they had been locked immediately before someone else was allowed access. I also wish they would have explained that opting not to receive helpful nudges along the way and instead wanting to ask for hints ourselves to have a fun challenge meant that we would be limited to 5 hints. It would have been fun to have no particular limit to the hints since we were already opting for the more challenging option and wanted to try on our own. Overall, despite the amazing room, the service and loss of over a quarter of our time left my family not wanting to return. We drove a farther distance and spent more money to try Red Door Escape, but I had much more fun with my experience at Breakout Games last year and recommend my friends and family to go there instead next time. I understand losing 5 minutes off the clock if we were 5 minutes late. With the 5 minute grace period, the waivers only took us 1 minute to sign before the technical issues which we showed the workers. We only should have lost one minute on our clock, 6 minutes if there was no grace period. Instead, we lost 20 minutes which is over a quarter of the time. Then the girl working with us immediately tried to get us to pay for our "next game". At Breakout Games in Richmond, I was able to move my date without paying extra when my new-driver friends cancelled due to rain to be safe. When we went on the new date, we were allowed to complete our forms and when my group was fumbling with the last lock as time ran out we were even allowed to finish since we had figured out the code and only struggled to put it in. The staff was friendly and honest rather than overbearing and choosing to ask for hints rather than receive them throughout didn't limit our hints. I'd suggest going there instead for a better experience with friends and family. This didn't help us with team building but caused my parents and my kid sister unnecessary stress on my birthday and created some tension. We would have had a perfect day if we...
Read moreThe Confinement room was as fun as any to work through but I found the theme and decor to be quite boring and lackluster. There was only one detail I hadn't experienced in an escape room before that we needed a hint on. The room was so bleak it should have been obvious. I doubt that was intentional though. My biggest issue was I felt like there was very little creativity in how things progress beyond just locks. Soooo many locks. 9 times out of 10 it was just another lock to fiddle with. I'll come back for sure. I had a fun time as I do with any escape room. I just prefer to be far more emersed in the story. Apparently doing all the rooms does tell the entire story which is obviously a great move to get people coming back, but there wasn't storyline enough to want to come back for that aspect alone. I want to reiterate that I'm a pretty maximalist snob about escape aesthetic so if you don't care much about that it's a 10/10 room, and the staff was fantastic! Also, one of our friends got sick last minute and they are honoring his booking for another date/time to come back and I'll be looking...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to do an escape room on a whim for our Friday date night, and we’re so glad we did! Even though our dinner plans got pushed back, Bailey at the front desk was incredibly accommodating and made sure we were still able to enjoy the experience.
We tackled the jail cell escape room, and wow—it was definitely a challenge, but in the best way! The puzzles were creative, the clues kept us on our toes, and we had a blast figuring out all the doors and hidden surprises. It was the perfect mix of fun and brain-teasing excitement.
A special shoutout to Bailey, who was not only super helpful but also handled a tricky situation with some teenagers like a true professional. As a mom, I couldn’t help but appreciate how well she managed everything with patience and grace.
If you’re looking for a fun, engaging, and well-run escape room experience, I highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely be back for...
