Very disappointing experience poor management will never return
So first, my wife calls to get tickets from Matt Rife back in early June 2023 funny bone comedy club staff refers her to get her tickets through StubHub. She signs on StubHub and only finds one set of tickets available but they advertised front row two person Two seats VIP.
She purchases the tickets at what seems to be a ridiculously high rate, but she really wants to go see this guys comedy show, and we figure that the high rate must be because their front row and VIP, but nobody at the funnybone would give us any idea of what the tickets cost, StubHub does not tell you that you’re not buying from the comedy club and that you’re buying from a third-party scalper. There is no information on there fast forward to the day of the show trying to print out the tickets because Checkin the comedy clubs website they don’t accept screenshots of the URL or images on your phone so you need to print it out and printing it out somebody else’s name on the tickets and it says we only spent $64 more than 20 times less than what we actually spent so we call StubHub customer service who explains that they don’t control what the third-party person post things for but they do They do diligence and make sure that what they’re posting is what they say they’re posting and if for any reason it’s not what it says we’ll get a full refund so we go to the venue wait in line outside and start speaking to some of the other people in the long line to find out that three of the other couples we talked to had purchased their tickets in the last 48 hours and they were told that it’s all general seating. There is no guarantee for a front row so now we’re worried but then we go and look at the sign as we walk through the door, which says you will be seated based on when you purchased your ticket so those that purchase their tickets earlier will sit closer to the front and you work your way back we get brought in and seated at a bar height table, which we would never have accepted in the far back corner with our backs to the stage the absolute worst seats in the entire place. The sound is terrible back there the echoes are terrible , it’s super super dark and you have to twist around in these uncomfortable barstools to try to see anything so we bring it to a managers attention. They explained to us that they’re in litigation with StubHub and that the table that is listed on our tickets as they are printed out should not be listed there, but in this case that table was going to be used for a Camera so we couldn’t have it , when the manager was point-blank asked why do people purchase their tickets in the last 48 hours have seats three and four rows ahead of where you put us facing the stage he said see what he could do for us when the show started There were seats available in almost every row ahead of us except the front row And they were not going to move. Us made no effort to make this right they did not follow their own policies posted and we had to come to the realization that we spent 20 times more than we should have for the best seats in the house and got the worst seats in the house with management that was not willing to do anything to correct the problem
StubHub definitely should be liable for allowing a fraudulent post that they had to know was fraudulent. There are no VIP seats available at this comedy club ever for anyone. There are no specific assigned seats so to allow an ad to go up on StubHub promising front row and VIP is fraudulent And is not the fault of the comedy club what is the fault of the comedy club after they saw what we paid for the tickets and what we were promised, they should have moved us up to better seats
They should have moved everyone to those better seats until they were full and left the terrible seats with the back, facing the stage empty but not third fourth and fifth row with empty seats, forcing people to sit in those terrible seats. I fully suggest that nobody patronize the funnybone comedy club. I will never return first...

If you a larger person, I recommend purchasing a VIP ticket and arriving to the venue before the doors open, however, that still may not be enough for you.
When arriving at the venue when the doors opened, my friend and I were seated at a table in the front section with another couple (this in and of itself is fine as we purchased general admission). We were too large to sit at the table without being in the isle and on the edge of the table. My legs were touching and rubbing against our table-mates as they had nowhere to go between the wall, table prop and my chair. We asked if it would be possible to be sat at a two top, or in a space that had more room. We were asked to move to the very back corner, when we were still one of the first ones in the establishment and very many tables were unassigned and open. I acknowledge that we chose to not purchase a VIP seat; however, moving us to the back corner when we had previously been placed in the front section as a part of the general admission seating is a clear indicator that the establishment has a size discrimination and that at least one person in the staff responded to our request in a punitive way.
A much more proper response would be to let us choose, or place us in, a different section with open seating in the general admission section that I could fit my legs under and wouldn’t have to be making my own, friends, and strangers experience worse.
Otherwise, the experience was good other than the comedian having some sound issues! Food and drinks were a bit overpriced for my taste but food/drink...
Read moreNow I have been to several comedy clubs in my life, most in Cleveland, Ohio, (This is my first one in Richmond, VA...), but never one where you couldn't really hear the comedians.. either the mic was too low, the comedians weren't speaking loud enough, or the speakers in the back of the room weren't working. My family and I went to see Tommy Davidson... Nice show.. but hearing most of it was difficult. Tommy even asked the audience, if the people in the back of the room could hear him? We all said... "NO!".. Then he asked if the club could turn up the speakers in the back of the room... And NOTHING CHANGED!! He didn't talk any louder, the speakers in the back never came on, and we still struggled to hear his performance. I wish I could say we enjoyed the show, but we could barely hear it. So if you plan on going to Funny Bone, in Richmond, I suggest you get there Extra Early, so you can be seated closer to the stage and can actually hear the comedians. Sorry Funny Bone! I was quite disappointed that we paid $25 per ticket, for 5 of us, bought wings and fries for $26, plus drinks $$$... but feel like we didn't get our money's worth, being that we couldn't Hear a lot of the jokes being told, due to a faulty sound system, a faulty microphone, or what ever the problem was. Don't get me wrong... Tommy Davidson puts on a great performance, is a wonderful comedian, and is extremely funny, but we will have to go on-line to see if we can find... and Hear the performance we paid Funny Bone to see and Hear. I don't know if we'll be back... Just when we as a family, had decided before we went, to try to go there every weekend... but not if we...
