I ordered three courses: Mixed greens salad, roasted garlic sirloin (instead they gave me the grilled sirloin, I think my server at the time thought that I ordered the grilled sirloin), port mushrooms, and the seasonal bread pudding. I enjoyed each dish regardless of the inconveniences that I encountered at Fire Bird, I just wish I could say it was smooth sailing.
The table was a bit sticky and had to send back the smaller plate for the bread that was originally at my table because it was not clean. Also, the bread knife that came with it was noticeably loose. There were a few flies that visited my table because of the stickiness of the table. I should have asked my server if they could clean my table before my food, but I did not wish to burden them too much. It was not until later while I was waiting my food order that they gave me another smaller plate. The steak was very well done, not medium well done like I originally ordered, it was hard to chew. There was not any pink. But the steak was still good even if it was tough to eat.
The knife that I was given was not sharp enough, I had a hard time cutting the steak.
I wish they had a different type of bread because when you cut into it, it's quite messy since there's sesame seeds on it. Although the bread is very messy to eat, it is good and you'll probably still enjoy it. I had to box the bread because I rather not create a bigger mess trying to cut into it and eat it.
My dessert, the bread puddling, the plate that it was served on was visually not clean and felt dirty so I asked for another one. The bread puddling was in a bowl and the plate was underneath it and that was one that wasn't very clean. Although I sent it back and got a new one, the bottom of the plate wasn't very clean and noticeably sticky.
Although there were small instances that I wasn't entirely satisfied with my time at this restaurant, they still served good food and the staff was accommodating and nice. I made sure to leave a big tip because of that fact. I thought that since this restaurant served a lot of expensive and enjoyable dishes that there would be less inconveniences that came with dining, but like any restaurant, I encountered a few. At the beginning of my order, I was served by Taylor, but then my server switched three times later on. I am not really sure what their names were, but everyone was accommodating and nice. The reason my server changed a couple of times was probably because the restaurant was gradually becoming busy...
Read moreThere were 2 bartenders and both either weren't communicating with each other or not suited for a non fast paced environment. I sat at the bar. I scanned the menu and was introduced to the happy hour short menu. There were interesting selections, but I wasn't interested in appetizers. I ordered bacon deviled eggs, side salad (BLT), filet medium rare, and potatoes au gratin. At the last minute I wanted braised mushrooms and onions but told the taller waitress that I wanted it on the side. She asked if I wanted bread, and I said sure. While they were bouncing around, I got my jack daniels and coke with an Ice water as outside temp was around 107 today. So, no bread and to prompt the shorter one, I asked what kind of bread they were offering. . .didn't know. Neither of them knew. She asked if I got any bread and I shook my head. . .prompt worked. My eggs showed up, great presentation with a line of siracha on each side, each half had a jalepeno coin. The egg mix was dijon and mayo, very good pairing and then when you bite into the jalepeno, very good iwth a piece of bacon as a palette cleanser. My side salad came out and it look like a full portion salad, lightly dressed, but flavorful with bacon bits scattered. My steak comes out with braised mushroom and onions on top and they added thyme to the braised which it didn't call out for. So, the whole flavor profile changed wiht the addition of the mushrooms and onions on top versus on the side as requested. If tall server working the bar area would have executed instead of just acknowleding my requests. . twice, I would recommend this place. How are you going to offer a side if you don't know what kind it is? Well, a saving grace is the potato au gratin which was the southwest potato au gratin that had jalepeno kick with each bite. I dind't notice at first until I was halfway through the dish. Very flavorful.
The ambiance was standard. There was alot of background noise, but it wasn't people talking, just a humdrum of mixed sounds and the tall waitress kept whispering.
Overall, it was a "it could have been better experience." Never again for $100. Oh the bread was a sourdough, mix. It wasn't bad,...
Read moreI hate to even be having to write this review, but I am doing this hopefully for management to see this and fix it in the future and warn people in advance, so hopefully they do not experience the same thing that I went through.
I have always loved this restaurant and the food is always good, so when I needed a place to host my mothers birthday dinner and got the entire family together to be able to celebrate with her Firebirds was my first call. I made a reservation for 10 people and when we showed up we were told they were still getting our table together, no big deal at all. Once we were told we were ready to be sat the hostess walked us down to the main center dining room and said to me that these "two tables were for us", they wanted us to sit at two separate tables for a party of 10... and after I had already made a reservation. When I asked her why we were being separated into two tables even though I had made a reservation her response was "the part room is full" once again, why was I never made aware that we would have to sit at two different tables or they couldn't accommodate our party.
Needless to say my mother was furious about this and we walked out of the restaurant and it didn't seem to phase the hostess at all. After this experience I am unsure I will return to this restaurant, we were now forced to find another restaurant that was able to accommodate us with no prior warning on a Saturday in Short Pump, we all know what that was like.
Management, if you are seeing this I suggest you fix this and make your customers aware of this before confirming a reservation, this is extremely unprofessional. Because of this and the lack of empathy/understanding from your hostess, you let what would have easily been a $700+ tab walk out your door and driver right down the road to your competition who gained mine and my family's business because of their service and compassion today.
Potential customers, please make sure you specify or confirm that your reservation is a single table to ensure you do not have to go through this...
