This theatre, at one time, was wonderful. It gave Shreveporters some real theatre. The Shreveport Little Theatre had some outstanding actors; delighted audiences with productions that rivaled Broadway plays. What happened? I've attended the last two productions and couldn't wait for the final curtain to drop. Our Town was so depressing that my friends and I left and couldn't wait to get home, jump in bed, and cover our heads. I realize the original play was a sad reminder of life in general but for goodness sake, we've just been through two years of sadness and loss. Two years of isolation. We are extremely familiar with depression. Can't the "powers that be" in The Shreveport Little Theatre give us-who have supported this once great local theatre-just a wee bit of laughter and joy? And actors that can really act? This isn't a place for want to be actors trying to "make their bones" on the stage of what was once a place to really enjoy going to. Read moreThis is just a beautiful place. It's an intimate theater with the front row audience close to the stage. Productions are well done and many of the community's most seasoned performers are cast regulars. You can also see fresh new talent when they include their academy students in productions. They present a summer musical as well as a fall to spring season presenting 5 plays or musicals, this year including "Of Mice and Men" and "On Golden Pond." The actors and actresses give top notch performances and, quite honestly, I’m impressed with the level of talent they have for local productions! The physical theater itself is small and intimate, but it provides for there not being a bad seat in the house. The lighting, sound and sets enhance the overall performance as well.
