The apartments and the building are nice. I love the view from my apartment and Ashley, downstairs, can give you the best haircut in town. But, some of the other residents, the night "security" and the management team can be real pains.
Kieth, the property manager, has a bad habit of gossiping to residents about other residents and the night security has no directive. Parking is a nightmare because there are no lines in the parking lot. The laundry facility that's on every floor has a single pair of washer and dryer that are tiny. It's about half size of a washer/dryer set at a normal house or laundry mat and the dryer never seems to dry anything all the way, no matter how little you have in it. I'd often go somewhere else to wash clothes.
The pool is only open for about two months, and in those two months. It's closed on Mondays. They also are very quick to close it if there's even a slight chance that it may rain. On the weekends there's no one there to open it back up so it stays closed until Tuesday. I only ever used the pool twice this summer, not because I didn't want to swim, but because it was usually locked.
If you do any kind of cooking or food prep for the week, find somewhere else. The kitchenette is tiny. There's a two burner stove top and a refrigerator that's the size of a suitcase and you're not allowed to put anything bigger in. You can, however, get another the same size.
On the plus side, the apartments are beautiful, the view from my apartment was great. The hot water in the bathrooms comes almost immediately and the water pressure is alright. They do sign for and deliver any packages to your apartment if they are too big to fit into your mail box.
Personally, I'd advise against moving in. The whole process seems rushed when you start it. They like to close the office early and at their own convenience without showing any sign of care of your work schedule.
Also, when they do a credit check, they pull one of your free credit checks for the year. I know this because about a month before I moved in I pulled all three of mine because I was car shopping and when I put in my application at the apartment they called and asked for my credit karma account password so that they could check it without paying for it. (The girl working then said, "I tried to make an account on credit karma but you already have one, I need your password." Obviously the correct answer to that is no.)
Just to save you some effort if you ever try to report the property management, when you call Fountain Blue Management and ask to file a complaint they give you the phone number of a lady in Alabama that will never answer the phone, her voicemail instructs you to mail or fax a written complaint to her. When you do they tell you that they will look into your claim and, if they have any questions, get back in touch. They never return your call and, as far as I can tell, nothing comes of the complaint. They more than likely contact the property management and tell them there's been a complaint filed and that's about...
Read moreI lived at the Highland Viewtower for a year, and moved for personal reasons. But this place is a complete charmer - it's both affordable and safe, and boasts a great staff that's always eager to help. I never left in the morning without a hello from someone working here. The apartment building is under new management and they've already worked hard to improve the building. Construction on the lower floors begins and ends at reasonable hours, so that residents aren't intruded on.
The Studio apartments are actually rather spacious and come with built-in storage that's cute and useful. What used to fill four closets fit in these units with ease.
Amenities are already great, and they only get better as the new management takes over and adds on. The swimming pool is kept in good condition year-round, the gym is great and convenient, the upper floor has a dedicated resident lounge with desks, comfortable chairs, free wifi, gallery kitchen (for those who have a kitchenette and need to cook something larger), and balcony seating overlooking some the of the prettiest parts of the Fairfield district. Downstairs has a full coffee bar for residents and a treat bar for pets, as well as Ashley's Hair Design. As construction progresses, management only plans to add more amenities and business to the lower level of the building.
Security here is great too! The parking lot is walled off by nice fencing, and requires key-card entry. All entrances to the building again require key card entry, and the main hallways boasts active security cameras. Guests can be buzzed in through callboxes placed outside of entries, and numbers on the callbox do not relate to apartment numbers so your privacy is still secure, even if someone scrolls for your name on the system.
All in all, living here was a wonderful experience, which is very rare when renting is involved. The staff are amazing and constantly helpful, the management is friendly, helpful, and reasonable, and the building itself is in good repair and only...
Read moreI have lived here for over a year now and I love it. I'm AD military and it's only a 15 minute drive to base. I love the area but I especially love how the management team here takes care of its people. Ms. Alex is the best and Mr. Floyd is awesome when it comes to any maintenance issues or concerns I have. They always have cute little social gatherings or give out food like donuts and kolaches about once a month which is also a plus. The kind of people that live here are also pretty cool since you get a mix of military and medical professionals or just people who are professionals in their fields. When the pool is open, it's pretty much always clean and I like how you have to use a key fob to get in and use it. Parking is not bad at all like other apartment complexes since you also need a key fob to get in the gate. I live on the 11th floor so I get to see a killer view every evening which I am grateful for. I will be sad when the day comes that I have...
