Wednesday March springĀ hiking @ Mt.Wilson Trail from Sierra Madre (from Mount Wilson Trail park) early morning. I started the trailĀ at 9 AM and got to the top of the mt. at 2:30 pm; and I got to spend 30min in there, because everything was closed, šinclude an observatory, restroom, and cafe shop.
I arrived around 8:35am and i used the bathroom in the park.Ā I park my car on the street , than I start walking to the a residential street which headed to the trail entrance.
The trail was really pretty, gorgeous views,Ā you can see LA buildingsās , the trail is all up hill šso when you come back itās all down hill.š¤.
This trail definitely is one of my top 5 for the area, and for views,Ā and the "trail" oh yes! it packs quite an incline on the way up .
The way down isnāt too bad.Ā Returning was more easier than going to the top of the mt.. The trail was mostly shady and cool breeze made my hike more enjoyable but after 3miles away from the start point ; the first 3milesĀ doesn't have trees, no shade at all.Ā šAfter 3miles you will be inside the mountains beautiful trees, šŖ“š±šæš¾.Ā The trailĀ is not difficult, at all and I make 15.35 miles, around trip. I reach the top of the mt Wilson observatory after 8miles remember going up is making more miles than going down,Ā after 7 miles you will see a road they call "toll road"Ā or the trail, on the right hand,Ā I used the road to walk all way to the observatory was easy for me , but was closed to the public", but you can used the trail on you right hand , is hill up, that trail will go to the solar tower, and the telescope,Ā the trail is well maintained very clean ,no graffiti. Enjoy!Ā PLEASE KEEP ITĀ CLEAN THIS TRAIL , PLEASE DON'T SIGH YOUR STUPI NAME ON IT ROCKS , NO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound parking on Sturtevant St Sierra Madre Thursday at 6 a.m. It being a hot June Day I figured the earlier the Better. I hiked half the trail a couple weeks back and wanted the 14 plus mile challenge. About a 1/8th of a mile into it I scratched my head and asked myself what the hell have I gotten myself into. Shortly after I started to acclimate and thoroughly enjoy this Ultimate Mountain edge hike with stunning views with the sun rising. The hike rises above the nice suburbia and then all around you it's just nature that appears. Breath taking, quiet and Serene until the Horse Flies, Mosquitoes and bees take notice your enjoying yourself too much and make an annoying entrance and buzz you ears, head and neck. Luckily I wasn't bit or stung, but I was definitely landed on and felt a Lil uncomfortable. I finally acclimated to that and made it to the Orchard halfway point then the Brutal and stunning view 2nd half of the hike all the way to the Cosmic Cafe which is shut on weekdays, but luckily there was it's shaded patio was open and there was a benches and tables to rest for awhile get my bearings and make my 7 plus mile dissent. Which required a Lil more traction, h20 and patience. The hike took me a day and it was worth it. It was a relentless challenge 6 miles into it . Much Stretching, H20 and healthy snacks, 70 proof sun screen and more stretching required. If I do this hike again I'll do it in cooler circumstances that's for sure! Bit wow Such an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I were visiting Monrovia. While we were driving around town, we saw Mt. Wilson hiking trail sign. When we get there, there were a lot hikers. Of course everyone were practicing social distancing and everybody were wearing mask as well. Beautiful trail! 5000 feet elevation and 7 miles to the top of the mountain. Trail was not wide enough for coming and going so people stop to let other people past. Really nice view of the valley from the top. Trail was moderate but there are some side trail that you can go to just a little harder but higher elevation and amazing view! It get really hot so bring lots and lots of water. And don't forget to use the bathroom before your hike. No bathroom on the trail and no place to hide if you have to go. Without stopping you might get to the top in 3 hours depends on your speed. Early in the morning is the best time to go. Make sure to have a good breakfast. The hike can worn you out. Better yet bring some snacks or protein bar. You can bring your dog. if you do, bring extra water for your dog. So go have fun and don't...
