I have been a loyal customer of Mother Moo’s for years. I moved to Sierra Madre in 2011, and was usually buying ice cream there multiple times a week. I moved to Rancho Cucamonga a few years ago, and still come back just for the ice cream. I would take people that were here visiting from out of state to experience it as well.

I took my boys here yesterday to get some ice cream, and there was a line outside of the store with people adhering to the 6ft social distance, and most people were wearing their masks. I was not wearing a mask because I was outside, and even when I would place my order, there was a table that kept me outside the store and more the 6ft away from the employees that would be taking my order. I got to the front of the line, and the owner asked if I had a mask. I told her that I didn’t and her response was,” No Mask, no service. I’m not willing to risk my life for you!”

I understand that it is her business and also her right to refuse service to me even if I find it ridiculous. I also understand that the wearing of masks is a very polarizing subject for many people. I understand the fear associated with the virus, and I honor those that choose to take every precaution. What I don’t understand is how an owner of a company felt the need to be rude to a customer in front of her employees and multiple other customers. She could have very easily been polite and explained that she didn’t feel comfortable serving me if I didn’t wear a mask but instead chose to be quite abrasive, and lost a customer for life...

The owner of this shop is rude and mean. A fully pregnant young lady with a 5 year old needed to a moment to sit for a few minutes and this rude owner told her to leave. For a pregnant person to be treated like that by anyone is a disgrace. Furthermore the young pregnant lady and small child have grown up in Sierra Madre and the family has frequently visited the ice cream shop hundreds of times in the past. I understand that it is busy however to treat a pregnant young lady and her 5 year old daughter like that in 80 degree weather was rude. The right thing to have done was kindly asked the pregnant young girl if she needed water. When I called to discuss this with the ice cream shop owner she was defensive and rude and she hung up on me. Such a disrespectful, unprofessional and rude owner. Try being compassionate to your longstanding customers especially one who is currently pregnant with a 5 year old daughter in the...

I called ahead to find out if they had gluten free options as I have celiacs. I was told that all of their flavors were gluten free except for the cinnamon brittle. I said great and how that answered my next question about cross contamination. I went and noticed an allergy sign that stated that all of their items may contain egg, dairy, wheat (gluten), etc and they are not a gluten free facility. This is fine and understandable to have as a caution; however, in the future this should be stated on the phone especially when I even stated how cross contamination happens. I did eat the chocolate chip ice cream and hope I don't react. It was good but not as sweet as I like. My son had butterscotch ice cream and...

Really tasty ice cream done in interesting ways I've never had before. Cool service too. My favorite part of the experience was watching the young employee put together the ingredients for my "Modest Cow" with the syrup and the sprinkles and the marshmallows. The way he did it, it was like watching an artist trying to put together a masterpiece. He was so careful, intensely interested, and precise in his method. I would even dare to say he was a little dramatic in his approach too. It was very amusing. It's an incredibly quaint little shop. Highly recommended!

Good, richly flavored ice cream. I got the organic triple milk which had the right semi-thick texture. This is a good sign because it means that the ice creams are naturally made. Most thick ice creams use emulsifiers to give them thick textures. The taste was creamy and of course, milky, but it tasted better than milk! However, the cost is at a higher end. A single scoop was $5.50. Normally, that is the price of a quart or gallon depending on the brand.
