I have been a loyal customer of Mother Moo’s for years. I moved to Sierra Madre in 2011, and was usually buying ice cream there multiple times a week. I moved to Rancho Cucamonga a few years ago, and still come back just for the ice cream. I would take people that were here visiting from out of state to experience it as well.
I took my boys here yesterday to get some ice cream, and there was a line outside of the store with people adhering to the 6ft social distance, and most people were wearing their masks. I was not wearing a mask because I was outside, and even when I would place my order, there was a table that kept me outside the store and more the 6ft away from the employees that would be taking my order. I got to the front of the line, and the owner asked if I had a mask. I told her that I didn’t and her response was,” No Mask, no service. I’m not willing to risk my life for you!”
I understand that it is her business and also her right to refuse service to me even if I find it ridiculous. I also understand that the wearing of masks is a very polarizing subject for many people. I understand the fear associated with the virus, and I honor those that choose to take every precaution. What I don’t understand is how an owner of a company felt the need to be rude to a customer in front of her employees and multiple other customers. She could have very easily been polite and explained that she didn’t feel comfortable serving me if I didn’t wear a mask but instead chose to be quite abrasive, and lost a customer for life...
Read moreThe owner of this shop is rude and mean. A fully pregnant young lady with a 5 year old needed to a moment to sit for a few minutes and this rude owner told her to leave. For a pregnant person to be treated like that by anyone is a disgrace. Furthermore the young pregnant lady and small child have grown up in Sierra Madre and the family has frequently visited the ice cream shop hundreds of times in the past. I understand that it is busy however to treat a pregnant young lady and her 5 year old daughter like that in 80 degree weather was rude. The right thing to have done was kindly asked the pregnant young girl if she needed water. When I called to discuss this with the ice cream shop owner she was defensive and rude and she hung up on me. Such a disrespectful, unprofessional and rude owner. Try being compassionate to your longstanding customers especially one who is currently pregnant with a 5 year old daughter in the...
Read moreI called ahead to find out if they had gluten free options as I have celiacs. I was told that all of their flavors were gluten free except for the cinnamon brittle. I said great and how that answered my next question about cross contamination. I went and noticed an allergy sign that stated that all of their items may contain egg, dairy, wheat (gluten), etc and they are not a gluten free facility. This is fine and understandable to have as a caution; however, in the future this should be stated on the phone especially when I even stated how cross contamination happens. I did eat the chocolate chip ice cream and hope I don't react. It was good but not as sweet as I like. My son had butterscotch ice cream and...
