A customer physically assaulted me, then used racial microaggressions and when staff got involved, I was treated poorly.
A woman was in line, and stepped to the side. She was no longer actively in line, and was looking at items to the side. As I progressed in the line, the woman told me that she was in line--which was not the case, as the people in front of me had continued to move forward as she was to the side. When I told her that I was behind the mother and her son, she then proceeded to push past me with her cart, hitting me continuously. When I told her to stop hitting me with her cart, she told me to move then. If she was in line, why would I need to move to the side for her to get in front of me? This woman continued to physically assault me with her cart. I stepped back in front of her and she then started yelling for security, calling me "aggressive" and "difficult". The woman who was calling me "aggressive" and "difficult" was a non-Black woman of color, calling me, a Black woman, "aggressive" after she hit me multiple times with her cart. I was called up as I was next, and gave the teller my item (a pair of shoes). This customer then pushed past me again, hitting me with her cart, again, in front of the security guard and teller, and threw her items from her cart onto the table, AS THE TELLER WAS ATTEMPTING TO RING ME UP. As I attempted to talk, this customer yelled over me and lied about the situation. Every time I attempted to talk, the woman would yell over me. The security guard claimed to have seen me push past her, but failed to acknowledge that this woman had initiated the issue when she chose to push past and hit me with her cart multiple times. She kept saying "show the tapes" and I agreed, but no one wanted to show the tape. The security guard said that I would have to move, even though I had already given the teller my item, and she was attempting to ring me up. Every time I attempted to talk, the security guard would tell me that what I had to say was irrelevant. When I asked why didn't he make this statement when the woman was actively yelling over me, he said that he didn't actually hear what she said, yet he agreed with her in the beginning.
Staff actively participate in discriminatory behaviors. This woman was calling me aggressive, all while aggressively screaming at and over me, in front of staff. According to her (the customer), because she called security first, she was right, and security appeared to agree, even though her behavior was not that of someone who was the victim in the situation.
I ended up leaving without making my purchase. Why would I want to purchase anything from a store that allow customers to assault people and reward them, simply because the person they...
Read moreThis store looks like a tornado flew through it and spit it out. Anyways we found a few things to purchase through all the mess and the checkout line had about 5 people in front of us then a huge line formed in back of us with only 2 cash registers open and a manager just standing around doing nothing. We were in line about 20 minutes & they had an employee cut through the huge line by using the return line and called her up to the register before everyone else. Can their customer service get any worse,We’ll Yes - you guessed it right, it gets worse. The cashier that wrang us up did not even bother to hand me the receipt - she said you can pull your receipt from the register. Really ...really ....How does this store stay open and why do people shop at this store. I will never go to this store again and would rather drive a little bit further.I urge Ross Corporate to hire only courteous hardworking people that appreciate having a job and actually work. Also offer lots & lots of training for customer service and store cleanliness. Corporate show some caring & integrity for this Long...
Read moreThe store manager Ray is very rude and disrespectful. There was a scuff on a purse I was looking to purchase, and he very rudely refused to take off 10%. I wasn’t even mad about the discount, it was his extremely disrespectful tone and demeanor, refusing to discount the bag since he said the scuff would wipe, after him and the cashier both attempted to and it didn’t move. I asked could we wipe it with a wipe since it was supposedly just dirt (even if it was.. ew) and he yelled at me that they aren’t cleaning anything. Avoid this place like the plague. It took 15 minutes to even get the purse off the rack because it was locked up and they have 1.5 cashiers working; 1 to ring up the entire store, and one that stands there and only rings up people that got expensive items. Everyone else is running around trying to catch people stealing. It took 20 mins to get checked out. Congrats Ray, you paid your employee for half an hour just to not sell a purse because you’d rather be disrespectful. And I will be...
