Christ of the Mines Shrine — Attraction in Silverton

Great place to visit and say a prayer. The story of this shine is amazing and I will try to give a short summary.

The miners from SunnySide mine were in mass in town on a Sunday, when the mine was suddenly flooded by a cave in under a lake. If they had not been in town at mass many if not all would have died.

A short walk to the shrine will give a great view over town. I am told these are only Scottish pines in North America. I was also told the town carried water by hand to keep them watered...

I haven't been here in a few years. But it is always a blessing to be able to stop anytime when I go to Silverton. My husband and I spent the weekend for our anniversary and he had never been here. It is breathtaking as always. Especially this time of year with the fall leaves. I highly recommend going if you ever go through Silverton. You can see it from town but way better to see up...
