My husband and I were traveling through Colorado for a week and were headed to Silverton for the evening. I came across The Silverton Lodge by Google searching area hotels. We were very pleased with our stay! We only were able to stay one night, but it was worth every bit of our time there. We rented the Bear Mountain suite I believe it was called. Although it is an older established building, it had character, was quite comfortable with the king bed, and absolutely convenient with its amenities. It had a bedroom off the living room area and a full kitchen and bath/shower. There was access from the back door to a casual area to hang out in (possibly more for the summer months). From the moment we met Mark, the owner, it was a pleasant experience. I had called directly instead of booking online since we were only 10 minutes away. He took my name and saved the room until our arrival. As soon as we arrived, he was hard at work fixing the door area to our room since the snow has melted and left a small puddle of water. Not only that, our room didn't have a TV initially (it's not a part of the amenities), but he found one we could use with streaming. I joked I'm more of a city girl and prefer to have one, but it was okay if it didn't. However, he went above and beyond to accommodate me and we were so appreciative. Mark really helped us feel at home in his suite and during our stay. I can't say enough about our stay and the peace and quiet we felt staying there. We can't wait to go back and stay a little longer than just one night. This is not a hotel chain so please don't expect it to be. Instead, give it a chance to be what it is which is a comfortable, cozy, and laid back peaceful place to rest and enjoy the small town feel. I'm so glad it wasn't just another hotel stay. We felt right at home in this quaint and cozy town and can't wait to return with maybe less snow and more time to walk around and enjoy...
Read moreBack story. When we travel my husband leaves finding lodging up to me. Silverton, an old mining town, still has the original buildings. Back then, rooms were smaller. Finding lodging with a king size bed for my 6'2" husband was a challenge. Also, most hotels in Silverton have rooms upstairs with parking on the busy street. Silverton lodge is perfect. Parking right outside the door. One block from the main street and close to shops restaurants, etc. Only 3 blocks from train boarding area. We had the Bear suite. First impression? Utterly charming. My husband said he felt like he was in Gunsmoke--Miss Kitty's boudoir. He also said I had "hit it out of the park" as in finding the best place to stay. Having the kitchen was a big plus. It was delightful in the early morning to open the drapes and look out at the sun lighting the mountain side. Glorious. I doubt there's another place in Silverton that offers that. Plus, being off the busy main street (Greene) is a plus---quiet. Mark, the owner, is very helpful and accommodating. Total experience was fabulous. Ric and...
Read moreMy husband and I have been coming to Silverton at least twice a year for the last six (seven? eight?! time's weird) years. Sometimes we camp, but in the winter, at least when I'm coming, we rent a place in town. This was our first time staying at The Silverton Lodge. We stayed in the Bear Mountain suite. It was warm, comfortable, and had all the comforts of home. We really liked having a full kitchen but it was also nice to be right around the corner from a great bakery and restaurants. Being able to bring our dog was a huge perk. He's little and not much of an outdoorsman but he had the time of his life in the snow and an even better time back in the warm suite curled up in his bed. The owner, Mark, is so great! He checked in often to make sure everything was okay and was so kind and helpful about our complicated booking. The Silverton Lodge is a really special place. We'll definitely...
