In the DC area, on the Maryland side of the Potomac, not many trails can match CCT. Volunteers have worked with and pushed the county to get good signage, safe passage, and the 100% inclusion of the trail alongside the new Purple Line tracks. The trail provides tons of access, link between Silver Spring (restoral underway), Bethesda, Potomac River, and Georgetown - including many great neighborhoods in all directions. In normal times, with warmer weather the trail can get crowded. That's when the 15 mph speed limit is enforced with radar for safety. Being a former rail line, the grades of hills are reasonable. Still a great workout for hikers, runners and cyclists. Enjoy! My family and I do, at all hours year round.

One of the best trails in the greater DC area. You can either walk or bike on off-road trail between Georgetown, D.C. to Bethesda, Maryland. Understandably, it gets busier during weekend but it does affect the quality of your walk/ bike ride. You can verdant views alongside the Potomac River. I highly recommend the trail for experienced bikers as well as families!

Great trail to walk, bike and animal watch. Paved but has offshoot dirt trails as well. There were bicycle amenities but it’s all in disrepair. There aren’t any convenient restrooms, spare a few businesses that have public facilities. Quite busy most mornings and evenings but there have been recent incidents of cars and gas scooters speeding along so be aware.

Easy to walk, runs in the middle of city but still feels like you are in national park. You can walk onto it or go into small trails that connect to it and explore further. At certain points, there are water stations. There are small rivers that connect at specific points & trails. This route is mainly used by bicyclists to commute to DC, so watch out for bikes. Avoid late night & dark hours as there is no light. Deers are common sight...

Great for runners, bikers or just for a walk. Trail is not that friendly the first few miles in Bethesda (nor really a trail but within the city center due to new constructions). But towards Georgetown this is quite nice… This is very convenient if you want about to run 10/12 miles. Too short for a bike run but I suppose this is very nice way to commute to work to DC if you are a...
