We went to take some pictures, not the cleanest of water, full of algae and probably mosquito in warmer weather. Would be nice to include more information about how the lock mechanism worked, as it was I went online to find pictures to explain to my daughter. A lot of runners along the trail, small parking lot and no bathroom. Not much to look at in and by itself. But a good place...

beautiful trees and paths to walk. the lockhouses have a very interesting history and the kool thing is that they can be rented for overnight stays. close to georgetown and a trip over the bridge brings you to northern virginia and lots to do. although the green murky canal is a bit unappealing the awesomeness of the potomac...

I plan to hike the whole towpath trail from DC to Cumberland , MD.

On my first day...in DC no leas... I saw a snake, 11 deer, dozens of ducks, dozens of turtles, and several beautiful birds. The towpath is graded nicely for walking or biking.
