Mattress R Us — Attraction in Somerset

I am not typically a “review leaver.” However, I’m frustrated.

When we visited the store, everyone was so friendly! We found the mattress we wanted, we were told they had a brand new one wrapped in plastic in the back, and the bought it. Great.

Then comes delivery day. The mattress is delivered (husband is home), & I got home a couple hours later. I immediately notice that this was NOT the correct mattress. So, I call, & Jackie tells me that it was a “newer version of the same thing.” Okay… no. I do about 1 minute of googling & easily find that we were delivered a much cheaper version of the mattress we paid for. I’d like to think this wasn’t an intentional mistake on their part, but it’s hard to believe that.

The next day, I call again & tell them it’s definitely not the right mattress. No big deal, they say they’ll try to deliver the correct one soon. They kept telling me they were gonna call me back, but I eventually was always the one that called them first. I don’t think they ever actually called me when they said they would. No big deal. Annoying, but whatever. He couldn’t give me ANY sort of timeline on when the correct one might be delivered. That being said, I offered for us to come get the mattress & bring back the wrong one if he’d refund our $75 delivery fee, but would not refund that, so I refused to do it. Jackie said he’d give me a “curtesy call” before sending anyone to deliver the correct one.

Fast forward to later. With no notice, a man pulls in my driveway with a mattress wrapped in mangled plastic. I am a stay-at-home mom with twin, 16-mo-old girls. It took about 30 minutes of this older gentleman & me sweating our butts off trying to get the old mattress out & the new one in, all while my girls screamed the entire time (I know my kids screaming is not anyone’s fault, but Jackie KNEW I was a stay-at-home mom & my husband works, & he should’ve sent 2 guys to do this).

We unwrap the correct mattress, and pilling… is… everywhere (photo attached). There’s not a person on this planet that can convince me that this is brand new. This is absolutely the one from the showroom, & it had obviously been there for quite a long time.

Long story short, yes, we eventually got our mattress, but only after Jackie tried to gaslight us into thinking the cheaper one was the same. It’s NOT new. Jackie’s communication skills are really rough. They should have sent another man to help with these heavy king-size mattresses.

Okay, I'm done. Excuse me while I go shave the pilling off my “brand new” mattress, then clean it with an upholstery cleaner after that.

I’m not going to call and complain, because I don’t think it would do any good. So, I’m leaving this review instead.

My ultimate advice: pick up your mattress yourself if possible, & inspect it...

Greatly disappointed in this place of business. Not professional in the way they deal with a customer who have put their trust in them. Placed an order for a very much wanted custom built cabinet in July. We were told it would take four weeks. It was double the time and we had to call about it, because they lost our number. They had a cabinet, but it was not what we had ordered. It was again another length of time of the about the same time that we began to call again. It was getting close to our son's wedding with out of town company and we really wanted to put it in the empty space and items we had sitting around to put in it. The contact admitted that the cabinets were built out of state and were not delivered until they have enough to make it worth the trip. We were put off several times. We were told to call on a Saturday and decided to make the drive ourselves. We stopped in and were promised that "the delivery guy" was on his way, but he didn't know what time exactly he would come. We were told to call before we planned to leave town, because we do not live in Somerset. We drive back to the store only to find it dark, locked up and closed. Go there at your own risk and if you are not in any hurry to get what...

Horrible experience with this business! After spending some time listening to how wonderful each and every mattress we laid on was, we finally decided on what we were told was a steal of a deal for just $499 (retails for $997) only to realize once loaded that it didn’t look like the one on the showroom floor - oh, oops, honest mistake? No, that mattress isn’t even in stock! No wonder we were getting such a great deal, he was just sending us on our way with whatever mattress he wanted to rid himself of. After bringing it to his attention, he offered to wrap the display back up in the plastic he had “just removed this morning” and we were the only people to lay on it - riiiight....the mattress had obvious gray worn spots where it had been laid on repeatedly.
