Legion Food Trucks — Attraction in South El Monte

If you're not a California resident, I strongly advise against working with Legion Food Trucks. My experience with them has been a complete nightmare. Back in September/October 2022, I had dealings with Fabrizio, who claimed to be the owner of Legion Food. He made promises about having the food truck ready within 3 months. However, after taking a 50% deposit (amounting to six figures), he completely disappeared—ghosted me. During this period, other representatives from the company were handling the necessary paperwork for approval from the health department in my state.

Fast forward to June 2023, and a gentleman named Mike informed me that the truck hadn't even been started. According to Mike, Fabrizio had been fired for dropping the ball on various aspects and was no longer with Legion Food. Of course, this turned out to be a lie. Mike took over, but things didn't get any easier. He was lethargic in his responses, with approximately one reply for every five emails. Phone calls were equally inefficient. I have a plethora of emails expressing my frustration with the lack of response, updates, and photos, indicating that Legion Food does not prioritize customer service.

I escalated my discontent to Patrick Martinez, supposedly the lead at Legion Food, providing details of the hurdles they put me through. In summary, his response was to express gratitude to Matt for taking over and getting my truck ahead of many others in production. This response left me incredulous.

The truck was eventually completed about a year after my initial contact. While it was a challenge getting the truck to us, and obtaining tags in my state proved to be a significant issue, Mike did assist in this regard. However, I am overall dissatisfied with the entire process. No client should have to endure what I went through. The truck is plagued with numerous issues, and it's disheartening that I'm not in close proximity to have Legion Food address and rectify the problems.

Here's a list of the issues with the truck, presented in no particular order:

The thermostat for the flat tops was installed too close to the heating source, resulting in burnt thermostats. We will have to replace this out of pocket.

The second hydraulic arm for the main window where people order was not installed, putting customers at risk as a light wind completely shuts the door down. This arm is now on back order, and we are left waiting.

The dessert display was not installed.

The second air conditioner was not installed.

The skylight was not sealed, causing rain to come in. We had to pay someone to correctly seal it.

A strong smell of gas was discovered, and it was later found that the valves were loose, posing an extremely dangerous situation. We had to pay someone to fix this.

The plumbing intended to pass inspection in our state was all wrong. We had to pay someone to completely remove what was installed to have it pass inspection.

The generator for the hood is failing, turning off several times during the day. Moreover, starting all the generators first thing in the morning is an arduous task.

It took about a month for Legion to refund us for the work that had to be done, plus the missing items that were left out on the truck. Then, a week later, they informed me they had to close their account due to fraud, and the check I had cashed was returned. They sent us a wire transfer instead.

They never set up the menu on the TV for me. They never set up the LED sign for me, and they never set up the cameras I had installed for me either. I received a lengthy email on how to install the programs, but after everything I've been through so far, it's frustrating that I also have to set that up myself.

While I wish I could say I'm no longer in contact with them, it seems like there's a new problem every week that I need them to address. Let me give you some advise for those of you who are looking to buy a food truck

Took them 1 year 2 months to build a cart They don’t answer your phone calls or emails They use cheap material powder coated steel looks nice when they give it to you all nicely painted but give 4 months and it will start chipping and rusting they don’t even use primer ..... food trucks carts need to be cleaned washed down always go with stainless steel And not just any type of stainless Make sure they use 304 or 316 grade stainless these are water corrosion food grade stainless Stick a magnant to make sure Other wise you will have stainless that will rust in some areas looks dirty all the time your gonna need to scrub it all the time to get rif of the rust temporarily Presentation is the key making sure it looks clean and it will last you forever

Legion does ok jobs at manufacturing I went to a mfg that does not specialise in food trucks he built me 3 so far and he did a far better craftsmanship then does that specialize in food trucks a person that has the experience and brains to play with stainless steel bend weld shape can do better jobs than those...
