This park is immense with plenty to do for the entire family. There is no fee to enter compared to other county parks. There’s an entrance on Bird Road and one at Miller Drive. Great place with plenty of trails for jogging, walking or biking. If you want a high intense workout go up the famous hill in the rear of the park. Plenty of lakes for fishing and tables for picnics or bring a blanket and sit on the grass under a tree for shade. Their Pavilions are for rent for large gatherings for birthday parties or other celebrations 🥳
This weekend we went for a walk early in the morning we approached one of the bathrooms and saw the “orange caution cones” thinking it was closed we drove to the next one and it also had same cones, I went inside. So, clearly bathrooms are cleaned and floors mopped every morning. 😊
Plenty to do at this family friendly park! They also have baseball fields, batting cages, tennis, racquetball and plenty of trails. You cannot walk with your dog in the park trails or you will be fined. I am a dog lover and empathize but many dog owners do not pick up after their dogs! Which explains why there is a gated dog park for dogs to socialize with other dogs. 🐶
Thank you Miami-Dade for enforcing rules and maintaining our parks clean for us...
Read moreThis park is genuinely OK, most of the time. The main issue you have is barely any sunlight coverings, which will make you prone to sunburns. It also doesn’t help the fact that the summer time this season is very very active nationwide in USA. The good thing is that there are ways to keep cool, but you have to do it every few minutes because you’ll end up dehydrated. Staying an hour or two in there for the sun and exercise is ideal and excellent. More than 3 hours is definitely pushing it over unless you have very high UV light resistance, or your skin type is naturally strongly resistant against the sun. There is always the trouble that you need to bring water. A lot.
In other seasons, it is perfect to visit. You have the best experiences. You can have a calm walk, do outdoor activities freely, ride bikes, rent a 4-seater, etc…. It is a calming place, and you definitely will have the better experiences in months that are not either May, June, July, or August. It is better environment cold as hot and humid conditions have proven it to be easy to stain your clothes.
3 stars, for its chilling experience, abundant space, but troubles to keep heat down without more trees, if you’re going to have a party...
Read moreI absolutely adore this place; simply being here feels wonderful. The amenities are diverse and plentiful, catering to various interests and preferences. There are facilities for tennis, baseball, basketball, boxing, water sports, soccer, batting cages, and two playgrounds. Additionally, there's a nature preserve, a hill, and two lakes to explore and enjoy. On weekends, bike rentals are available, and Fridays bring the excitement of food trucks and bounce houses. For larger gatherings, there are shelters equipped with grills, while the entire park boasts picnic tables and small grills for more intimate gatherings. Bathroom facilities are conveniently located throughout the park for visitors' comfort. Furthermore, there are two designated dog parks—one for small dogs and another for big dogs—along with a Bark Park situated by the lake, providing a scenic spot for leisurely walks with furry companions. Additionally, the park offers equestrian facilities and much more, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. They have memorial for those who served. It is closed for the most part. It is what looks like a peninsula. At the foot of the entrance is the little stadium. If you have time see the...
