This past Feb. 14/2020.. I went to sushi Ko to have a nice romantic dinner with my wife and celebrate!! The way the crew behave and treat costumers at Sushi Ko is the clear example of what should not be done if you own a Restaurant. First of all we wait aprox 25 min to be seated, nothing wrong with that considering the busy date.
I have to be clear about this... if you own a rest. The quantity of tables and chairs shouldn’t be calculated according of the space or capacity of the venue..they should be decide according of the capacity that your crew have to attend properly and deliver food in a reasonable time to all your costumers.
Once we sit down the nightmare began ... we order right away to avoid any inconvenient delay.. at least we thought ....the salad came 35 min after (A SALAD!!!) to make it worse...we saw one of the sushi chef paying special attention only to the people seating at the bar... for sure they were friends...chatting and delivering dishes regularly... the rest of the costumers didn’t exists for him....We (wife and me) wait patiently ... one of the dishes came 1 hour later... I didn’t want to ruin the evening by complaining, but this was too much!!! I ask our waitress what was happening with our food... and she respond that they where too busy , on top of that she also said that one of the sushi chef was new. I reply that we where seating for more than one hour and the only food that we received so far was a salad and my wife first dish. She ask us to be more patient and we did... we wait for another 25 minutes (2 hours total since we enter the rest) and I ask her again for my food...and she brought me a open roll, yes open !!!! Fish on one side and rice on the other... After all that time the roll was not even properly rolled.!!! I didn’t say anything and wait for 10 more minutes ... nothing happen ....and that was it... i ask for the check and they charged us shameless, saying ....can you please wait a little bit more??? I just said : “you should read my review.”.. they should re consider to do something else...the way they treat costumers is a disgrace, disrespectful and totally out of any possible apology. If you go out, you expect to have a nice time and not to almost die from a hart attack caused by irresponsible...
Read moreHorrible. Just left the place with my boyfriend. The quality of food at this restaurant has gone downhill. We aren't going again - the fish wasn't fresh at all. Let me explain - I got a Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura with California Rolls Bento. It came with ONE very tiny floppy shrimp. See pics. Never have I ever had such an experience at any Japanese restaurant. They're usually bigger and if not huge they're at least firm because they're fresh. Mine here was floppy and so tiny and sad. My California rolls were sloppily made - the form was horrible. My salad was swimming in watery dressing. My boyfriend's sushi lunch was also sad and poorly made, the fish didn't taste fresh at all. Our appetizer btw did not even come in the beginning because they "make it there" so it took longer. That appetizer (the croquettes) were the only good thing we ate there. I can't believe the whole thing was over $50. They charged us for refills which I think is hilarious considering how long we waited for food so of course we'd drink our sodas by then while waiting. On top of that, the staff was unprofessional. You can have your political opinions, but discussing sensitive topics in your restaurant in the dining area even if there's very few clients, shouldn't be happening. You have no idea who is eating at your restaurants. There's no reason for workers to be congregating having political discussions in the dining room - leave it for the break room. So dissatisfied and hope management fixes...
Read moreThis is absolutely the best if not one of the best Japanese restaurants in Miami! They have absolutely incredible Sushi and Japanese dishes!
My wife first showed me this place many years ago when we were dating. It was owned and operated by a Japanese guy who was very humble and personable. It recently changed ownership and we were afraid that the quality of the restaurant would slip... We ain't here the other night and our fears were put to rest. The food is just as wonderful as it was years ago and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the restaurant was taken over by an individual who have been visiting the restaurant since he was a child. The new owner is a personal friend of the original owner! While this restaurant is not too expensive... It's not cheap either. The prices are average compared to the area. You should expect to spend around $50 for a dinner for two with an appetizer, soup and some sushi or dinner entrees. Overall I am glad to say that we will be eating here for the foreseeable future. A few people might be put off or taken back by the quite eccentric names of some of the sushi rolls.. But I am always quick to recommend this place to anyone who likes Japanese food. You will not be...
