Most of the staff was very friendly and welcoming, even the security, yet there was one female officer that seemed to have been following me and harassing me. While I'm trying to enjoy the even with my children. Today at the heat wave car show. My wrist band was clearly showing I was wearing a tank top. She stopped me 3x. After she asked me the third time I still gladly showed my band. And politely said she had already asked me 2 other times. Her response was if I can't see it I'm going to ask as many time as I want. Mind you again. It's blue and I'm wearing a tank top no sleeves. So how can you not see it. I left it at that. It was like she was following me because she was behind me most of the time, I would pull over to a stand and she would stop at the corner of the isle. When I would pass her she would ask again. So I'd show her again, I respect my first responders ALWAYS! BUT THIS WAS RIDICULOUS! Shouldn't she be worried about hostiles and people not a regular single mom with her children clearly wearing brackets. I paid $150 to spectate and all I got was harassed. Please for future events don't have rude and harassing officers to attend a...
Read moreItâs the first time I have attended an event being held there and from the get go all 8 designated handicap parking spots are being used ...though I was dropped off in the front the car needed to be parked at Claytonâs and they had to walk from there to the event to make matters worst some of those that are parked in the designated handicap parking areas didnât even have tags to indicate they could park there.. they have plenty of parking everywhere else but only 8 designated handicap parking spaces ...the lack of security made it impossible to have it enforced or report it to ....this event center obviously did not take into account that people with disabilities might or could want to attend events there... itâs the first time and obviously my last time I will attend an event there ....itâs a shame itâs in a nice place with a great view in the back but the lack of parking for people with disabilities really makes it really hard to go in there with a good attitude .....the city failed In foreseeing this and obviously the architects and engineers ..... first impressions are lasting...
Read moreThere are two birding/nature trails right here on the bay - this one and the one at the birding center next door. The birding one has a fee, this one is free. We didnt do the birding center one but they butt up right next to each other in a few places. From what I could tell, the birding center one is better maintained (signs in better condition, less overgrowth of bush) but both trails will show you some nature! This trail (the free convention center one) showed us some great birds, a few crabs, a turtle, a baby alligator, an adult alligator and lots of fish out on the birdwatch on the bay. It took us about an hour to walk and most of it is very sunny. The convention center has bathrooms and a drinking water fountain for use. Definitely recommend,...
