This place was really cool. Drove from Dallas and came for the week to enjoy the beach. This happened to be right across the street from the hotel we were staying at. This place did not fail. Once you pay for your ticket you have an option to buy tortoise food and alligator food. Unfortunately when we were there they were not feeding alligators but I paid the $5 to feed the tortoise and it did not disappoint. Probably the highlight of my trip there. Read moreAlthough SPI does not have a board walk along the beach, this nature trail on the Laguna Madre side is as close as it gets. It is an elevated board walk trail above the marshes and water ways. It is very easy to get and the scenery/wildlife beautiful. The two trails are not long, but every set will provide you with wonderful views. I always see different birds, fish. turtles & even alligators.
