We were at Bar Louie with a group of 27 for lunch. The restaurant is located at the back of the Marriott Courtyard which is new on the island. The hotel is very open with neutral grays and beiges - very pretty. It is a decent walk to the bar from the parking lot but you can also reach the restaurant on the beach side, located next to Cĺayton. The restaurant is actually in two sections: one is at the end of the entry hall with a large bar, area for a live band and lots of seating. There is a view of the pool. If you go by the pool - the second section of bar louie is visible with lots of windows that look out on the beach. There is a large bar there as well as a small kitchen. The windows are actually garage doors that can be rolled up to enjoy the weather. The restaurant service staff provided good service and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals with the exception of some of the people who ordered the chicken quesadilla because some orders were missing the chicken. The staff made it right by comping all of the quesadilla orders and offering to bring them something else. I had the seared salmon with cauliflower couscous. The couscous was spicy and had fresh radish slices mixed in. It was a nice size of salmon and the salmon was not dry. The sandwiches and burgers looked wonderful and were gobbled up also the pulled pork flatbread was raved about. The servers did a lot of check backs with the group and refills. The food came out hot and fairly fast considering the size of the group. Also the restrooms near the restaurant are big and very clean. On Tuesdays in January they have $5 burgers but don't know how long that will last. Was told Tuesday nights are a zoo!
Update went to Tuesday night $5 hamburger night at 5 o'clock as we heard it gets VERY busy. Hard to find parking but we did get one of the last few tables. The regular craft burgers $12-$15 are only $5. We got our orders quickly and they were both delicious. Once we got order - no check back and hard to get our check. I also got a dos sauza margarita strong. Would come back. Band...

Read moreThere are so many good options on the island, I would avoid this one. The food is over-priced for what you get and the service was poor. We were forgotten about and when finally served our dinners, my son’s meal did not arrive. After waiting for 10 minutes we began trying to ask other servers about the meal, as our server was nowhere in sight. They all said they would inquire about it but nothing happened. Finally, once everyone in our party had finished eating their meal, our server came to check on us. We asked about my son’s missing dinner and she quickly reappeared with it. It had obviously been sitting under the warmer for the past 30 minutes and tasted terrible (it was the fish and chips and they were soggy from the wait-time). When I asked to have the uneaten meal taken off our check, we had to wait additional time for a manager to be called. We were treated like they were doing us a big favor to take the uneaten, thirty-minute late meal, off of our ticket. There was never once an apology from server or manager. We will not be back and would not recommend. Try out one of the many other amazing places on the island instead.
Update: I reached out to the email provided by their response and did not receive any communication from them. I am guessing that they have that automatic response to look like they care. Our family loved eating at Blackbeard’s, Nautico Island Grill, and South Padre Island Brewing Company. Food was delicious at all three places, service was top-notch, and the food was...
