Southern Maine Community College — Attraction in South Portland

Fantastic campus location. That's it. So far, one of the worst schools I've ever been too. The policies and staff promote a very forced agenda, one such that Harry Potter was banned. Veterans Support was almost non existent and if you take online courses, the instructors don't actually teach anything and instead expect you to learn everything from other creators on YouTube, a very disturbing practice in itself, making college profit off of someone else's free informational lessons. Very poor experience and now, for the last 2 years they have been heavily mandating the vaccinations to the point they have had a massive drop off in students and faculty, and are actually paying students bills with the school to ensure they return, as student attendance has fallen severely. I will NOT support this atrocity of a facility, and instead please urge your local leaders to stop promoting an agenda that is ruining the values that had allowed Maine to flourish...

I have only taken one course there (to earn a home energy auditor certificate) but the several buildings I went into during that semester were friendly, clean and up-to-date technologically. The campus is in a gorgeous setting overlooking Casco Bay (elements, lighthouses and all.) my professor went far beyond what was required of her to guide and help us connect to our professional community, so that we could find work after receiving our certifications. I briefly visited the campus center, the library and two classroom buildings, all of which were great, and I also got to take a session in the college's HVAC building, an enormous building chock full of boilers and AC units to practice on. Stopped by the office to get some info on January 11th. First of all the young lady in the office must have been new cause it was obvious that she didn't know what she was doing. Went home to check the site. Couldn't see everything I needed to and there was definitely no price. Called the school. Lady at call center sounded bored and half asleep. She transferred me to informations. The guy that answered the phone was RUDE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. He sounded like I shouldn't have called and should just check the website.
