VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES. UNORGANIZED. RUDE. CASUAL ATTITUDE TOWARD THEIR CONSIGNORS AND CUSTOMERS!

The story:

The store recently "misplaced" a tub of items that I had dropped off in February. I kept calling to find out where my stuff was and they said that it was out on the floor.

Called back in March and April and again got the same response. Found out they assigned a May first end date to the consignment, and called at that time to find out if I should pick up my stuff. Again, they said everything must have been sold.

Came in to get my money and had $2 in my account. They had little record of items in the computer. They said they only kept 10 items, and donated the rest (without my consent). They then changed their story and claimed to have only kept 4 items.

One of the employees found a miscellaneous bag of some of my things in the back room.

When I complained, the buyer and owner told me "We have 1600 consignors, we can't possibly keep track of everything that comes through the store." NEWS FLASH! You're a CONSIGNMENT shop... pretty sure THAT IS YOUR JOB!

They would not take any responsibility for their mistakes and tried to make it out to be my fault at some point. I am wondering how many other items I dropped off that somehow got "lost" in the system. Especially wondering if they sold items and did not credit me.

I love shopping at this store. However, I recently bought two items (a shirt and a skirt) from the boutique section, both new and not used like the items in the consignment section. After one wear, I washed the skirt, and the lace outer layer stretched out a TON, making it unwearable. Within an hour of putting on the shirt for the first time, it had a hole in it. Both were super cheap ($14 for the skirt, $8 for the shirt), but even so I expected them to last a LITTLE longer. Unfortunately, the receipt says that all sales are final. I guess I'll return for the consigned clothes and leave the boutique alone from now on. Too bad because the boutique clothes are cute.

EDIT: I spoke with one of the employees there, and apparently the boutique items are returnable after all. I have also bought a couple of things in the boutique since writing this review and since talking with her, and they have lasted much longer. So maybe I just really...

I have been wanting to review this store for a long time, but I've had a hard time deciding what kind of rating they deserve. The boutique is fun and carries tending styles at cheap prices, and the consignment area has good clothes at fair prices. Yet, the customer service is hot and cold. I've been in several times and sometimes I get a clerk that is friendly and helpful, but most of the time, the women that work there are cold and slightly rude. I had never done any kind of consignment before and the lady acted annoyed that she had to explain their process to me. I rated a 4 because I know not everyone has a good day everyday and working in customer service can be hard, but I hope maybe you will note that kindness and warm smiles would have...
