I LOVE this place.
I am always in search of new Chinese restaurants to find the perfect place of price, quality and overall satisfaction.
Lucky 5 was where I found it all.
Like most Chinese restaurants, it is not advertised heavily, nor does it look flashy. But it is a hidden gem of awesome.
The meals are always hot, fresh hot - not sitting under a warmer. The oil is fresh as you can tell by taste and texture of anything.
I personally opt for the orange chicken most often. It is a perfect amount of sauce, tang, sweet and again so perfectly fried. No soggyness here, ever.
The price and sizes are wonderful as well and still am shocked at how wonderful the food is for how understated the decor is. This ' hole in the wall' is a treasure and a top favorite.
To be fair, my only critique is of the ham fried rice. Now I can be just picky, it is food, but I personally am not a fan of their * ham fried rice. It is always lacking some meat, flavor, EGG and general wow factor that everything else they offer has. I would normally have more than a portion of ham fried rice but not from here. While not crunchy and dried out/burnt, it does not have the same *muchness that the rest of the menu does and reminds me of a mediocre buffet quality. However, get the house special lo mein is an ease...
Read moreHere's what we ordered: Coconut Chicken, Sweet and sour Pork, pot stickers, Fried shrimp and ham fried rice. The rice was completely tasteless and looked like plastic. The shrimp and pot stickers were AMAZING! The dipping sauce was outstanding! Hot and sour was very eggy and no veggies in it what so ever but wasn't too bad. The Sweet and sour pork was AWFUL. It was served hot and fresh and looks great but there were NO vegetables. No carrots, bell peppers or pineapples! WTH? The sauce is super runny and you can't keep flavor coming with out constantly re dipping for More but the worst was the breading. It's tastes like pancake batter and reminded me of Fried butter from the state fair. It conflicts so hard with the tasteless sauce it's hard to eat. The coconut Chicken suffered the same fate as the batter is the same. it pairs better with the coconut flavor but the sauce it tasteless and constant redipping apply here as well. They do offer an all you can eat lunch buffet which I will try and see what other offerings fair better...
Read moreLove this local restaurant! They have great food. Always fresh, tasty and fast. Kind staff. The restaurant is always clean. Great value and welcoming to all.
They were new back in 1999, and have worked SO hard to make it. The early, lean years they were the ONLY restaurant in Spanish Fork doing deliveries. They made so many runs to the canyon on the other side of town every day we wore them out, but he always turned up with a smile and a THANK YOU. They survived COVID, and the loss of their busy lunch buffet, and are now recovering from a small fire in the exterior building signage. This small mom and pop are worthy recipients of your business. They understand hard earned money, and are an integral part of the fabric of our community.
After all these years, we still head there a couple times a month, HIGHLY recommend this place! The food is tasty, fresh and delicious.
Skip the chains. This is where the locals go! Places like this are the fabric of our community. Please make an extra effort to patronize them...
