Sparta Glen Park — Attraction in Sparta Township

We finally visited Sparta Glen Park after living near it for 5 years figuring it would be a fun thing to do on a nice day. When we first arrived we expected to find a map of the park showing the trails and parking areas - no such luck. There are three parking areas and no trail heads were marked. We finally had to download a hiking app for NJ to give us some clue of the trails. Many of the reviews said the trail was "somewhat steep.". Nice paved trail, it was too muddy to venture into the local hiking trail with my 95 yr old FIL. You don't have to park at the first lot you see, continue up the paved drive two at least two additional parking spots. Beautiful, very well maintained, areas with picnic tables and small grilles adjacent to a mesmerizing little stream. Hiking paths with some pretty steep climbs if that's your thing. Thick with a variety of trees and you can see areas with new seedlings in planned new growth areas.
