Food Lion — Attraction in Spartanburg

Love the store overall... very clean, well stocked... fresh produce... BUT I work customer service and I have never been ignored during checking out so much at one place. Makes me feel very uncomfortable. They don't have to chat but when I say Hello, they could speak. Instead I get huffing or they are talking to the other employees about personal stuff... ALLOT of personal stuff... how they don't like there schedule, how the guy with accent that sweeps the floors gets customer complaints because he runs into people. I could go on and on. Also, I've bagged my own groceries many times while the baggers are on there phones. I guess my family having a business right down the street I expect costumer service to be a priority. The store itself is great I just feel the costumer service needs some work.

Oh and my last experience I was picking up a 24 pack of coke for the cashier to scan. The girl at the end of the couner said she needed my cart to put my groceries in, I said ok hang on one second this is heavy... the other cashier working the other register grabs my cart as I'm about to sit the coke back down and rolls it to her associate. Now you can imagine I almost dropped it... also I just had surgery so it pulled really bad ....as I'm stumbling to get to my cart. This is an example... they don't speak, care or listen... thats all. Just simple politeness...

The store is always clean and the shelves well stocked. The staff is nice and professional, as well. I came the other day and there weren’t any honeydew but that’s just a preference and since I shop around regardless that’s nothing that would hinder me from returning. 🥰 This Food Lion is on the way to my apartment and I’m always confident that I’ll be able to find what I need when I come in.

Lately there have been some updates and the store is better. There are now self check lanes and even though there is still renovations taking place the store is still clean.

I was tripping a little that the deodorant had to be in a safety box but I understand. Some people steal and obviously…deodorant is one of those items that keep walking out the door. I just appreciate the items that I prefer almost always being in stock. There has been more than one occasion where I’ve looked for an item elsewhere and it’s been out of stock but come here and you all had it. Thank you....

One star because of the cashiers and meat department workers. Try calling the meat dept and see how they speak to you. Smh. In person is no different . These people seem to hate their jobs! The lady in produce is very personable and one of the lady managers. I'm trying to not shop at Walmart, but these employees are making it difficult. The young heavy set white guy with the white hair is so mean it's ridiculous. I believe firing him could be detrimental to the store if you know what I mean. In my opinion he looks like the type that would return with nefarious intentions. Glad he was taken off of the cash register because he has the personality of an iguana. 🙄 Smh. Customer service is...
