This Asian market just gained itself a new customer. I've been a loyal customer of the Asian market on Trent for many, many years. I even looked past the dingy building and complete lack of any sort of organization. Last night was the last straw. They open when they want and they close when they want. Don't go go there within an hour of opening or closing or you may be let down. I've seen them closed up to an hour early. Last night I got there 20 mins before they closed. When I jiggled the locked door the owner looked at me, I pointed to my watch, put my hands up like what the heck, he looked at me and shook his head no. So, now in a rush I flew to this Asian market on Sprague. They were also closing but welcomed me in, were super friendly and helpful. I didn't have enough basil for a dish I was making. The basil I had bought from the Asian market on Trent earlier yesterday was half wilted. The basil I got from this market looked like it was cut fresh out of the garden. When I was in line at check out, the very nice lady who helped me jumped on the other register to check me out. Next level customer service, very clean and organized store, great prices and superior quality items. This will be the Asian market I visit...
Read moreI have been shopping in this store for over three years since I arrived here in Spokane from the Philippines. I am shocked why previous reviewers said very negative things about the people who work here. I have made friends with at least two of the staff there, Eh Da and Thi Dar. I'm always excited to go in the store to see if they are working the cash registers. Even the older workers are very nice.
As to language an cultural differences, I absolutely find them very endearing. It's a good experience to talk to people who are from another part of the globe.
As far as selection is concerned, they have a lot. Their produce is also fresh. New ones arrive on Thursdays so I normally go Fridays. I love it.
Word to the wise, don't go there with a superior attitude. If you go in the store expecting for people to bow to you something is wrong with you. Do not get personal when they cannot express or explain themselves like you would want go in English. You wouldn't even know their language yourself. Just be nice and don't be a dick if you can't understan them. They will try their best...
Read moreFor those who do not know the place well, I can tell you from my personal experience: it has gone through a complete life change in the past few years. When it was located couple blocks west across the street, you could hardly manuever your car in the parking lot, which is the same case walking inside the store. Food selection, organization, and quality all have impoved a lot and continue improving. The owner and managers are very professional and helpful. Due to langauage barrier, you might find it difficult sometimes to communicate with the workers there, but if they understand you, they will do their best to help you or find someone else to help you. Each year, they give out thousands dollars of prizes during the Chinese New Year celebration to show appreciation to their guests, along with lion dancing. I like the...
