7/19/21 UPDATE: I was in Spokane and had time to visit Pounders. I discussed the issue of my necklace with a representative and they indicated they could "fix" the necklace to hopefully make it so the main stone would not flip over. I also agreed to have the chain made shorter which meant they would cut some of the chain off and I could use the trade-in value of that gold to cover some of the cost for the "fix" but it did not cover all the costs associated with trying to make the necklace design work better. I am using quotes around the word fix because technically the necklace was made according to their jewelers specifications so really there was nothing to fix except the design was flawed. After three weeks I have received the necklace back from Pounders and it is now the correct length and sits better but the main stone still flips. The quality of work is good but the design and the customer service provided have been subpar. I will not use Pounders for custom jewelry again.
OLD REVIEW: I had purchased jewelry before from Pounders and also used them twice for custom jewelry design. They had done beautiful work for me in the past so I decided on them for a new piece of custom jewelry. I don't currently live in Spokane but while I was there this past summer I stopped in and discussed a concept for a necklace. The person I worked with understood that I did not live in the area but could be contacted by phone or text. We discussed my ideas for the necklace and determined where I wanted the stones to fall along my neckline. I left a gold ring with the stones that were to be used in making the necklace, and it was my understanding that the jeweler was going to review the concept drawing to ensure the stones would sit properly when worn. I was also quoted a finish price of $600.
A short time after I left the store, the person I worked with texted me and indicated the jeweler could make the necklace. I gave the go ahead and at that time also asked what the trade-in value would be for the gold in the ring I left with him. I did not hear anything back for a few days and the next text I received was pictures of a completed necklace. It was beautiful and I was very happy. There was no information provided nor did we discuss trade-in of the gold from the ring or remaining stones. Unfortunately, when I started arranging for delivery of the necklace the price jumped to $750. The only way I could get them to honor the $600 price qoute was to trade-in the gold and remaining stones from the ring. Once payment was made, the necklace was mailed to me.
Upon putting the necklace on I discovered the stones did not fall along my neckline as we'd discussed and the main stone flips over so that the setting rather than the stone shows when worn.
I immediately called Pounders to discuss my disappointment and was basically told that they could cut the chain to make it shorter, at my expense, but they were not sure if that would fix the issue of the stones flipping and showing the setting. Since I don't live in Spokane I can't just run over and have them look at the necklace and determine a fix. So now I have to wait until I'm in Spokane again to see if this issue can be fixed and it sounds like the fix will be at my expense.
Since I provided the stones and essentially the gold, what I paid for was design work and customer service. I understand everyone is stressed out about COVID19 but this interaction seemed like pretty low-hanging fruit to have been botched so badly. The necklace is beautiful but that makes it all the more dissapointing...
Read moreRelocating to a new country and city is very difficult and finding a new church, doctor, dentist and trustworthy jeweler is especially stressful. What a blessing we received when a very special newly found friend referred us to Pounder’s Jewelry. Free parking is always available and from the first moment that one walks through the impressive entrance doors to the first greeting by a highly experienced staff member, one just knows that this is not the usual run-of-the-mill jewelry store. Everything, from the wide selection of watches and clocks to the vast display of functional and other jewelry are tastefully exhibited. The displays opened our minds to ask questions about items such as minerals, gemstones and other materials which we were not particularly interested in at the time - but learned everything and more about through the courteous and highly knowledgeable friendly assistants. The antique items on display, from the cutest model train-set to the restored 17th century clock, together with the few select other businesses situated by the entrance, make for an interesting and informative visit without pressure sales techniques from shop assistants. Every time we walk out of the store we have that “wow” feeling, similar to walking out of Harrods in London. The honesty, craftsmanship and friendliness surpasses everything that we have ever experienced in business dealings of this kind. To the management and staff of Pounder’s Jewelry, we say: You...
Read moreI went into pounders with multiple items that mean the world to me to create a ring that was my idea and dream ring! I had my emerald engagement ring that had 4 baguette diamonds that was my great grandmothers ring, a sapphire ring with two small diamonds that my grandmother gave me, a watch with small diamonds throughout that was my great aunt gave to my grandmother, and an old band of mine with many small diamonds… I went in with my fiance and spoke with Theresa. Gosh, she is SO talented and really brought my vision to life! They created a casting of The ring itself for me to approve prior to them making the ring. I went in (I can’t remember the woman’s name, but she had brown hair and actually makes the castings) to see the casting and it was AMAZING! The only thing I asked to change was the thickness of the band just was a tad too thick. Other than that, I could NOT wait to see it come to life!!
Theresa called and said it was ready… when I say I was shocked, I mean I was SHOCKED!!!
I am BEYOND happy!! The entire experience was so easy and warm!
Thank you to everyone at Pounders and a special thanks to Theresa for being amazing at what you do creating these pieces and making...
