The staff here are ultra ultra ultra friendly and accommodating. However, the food is totally a different story. I feel terrible writing this review because it’s a hard working family ran business that delivers a hot meal. I couldn’t finish the meal on my plate for the first time in years because I couldn’t stand the fact that it did not taste right and didn’t smell as appetizing as I’d hope.
Even though we ordered 8+ different items from the menu, it only tastes 20% of what the authentic dish would be like at a 4.5 or higher Indian restaurant. Regardless of price.
The prices are high for what you’d receive at an Indian restaurant in Seattle or LA. Also, they try to show you a credit card machine without even letting you see the breakdown of the bill! I wonder why they’d rush you, considering the restaurant didn’t have many people in the main dining room.
Yes, it’s a hot meal and it was served on what appeared to be clean dishes. It looks great on presentation. They addressed needs and concerns right away.
I think the problem is that they have a huge variety of dishes that they can’t make correctly by taste and smell. Everything else is correct hence the 2nd star. They may cater to people who just don’t know any better or people who have never tried more than 5 different Indian restaurants that serve Butter Chicken, East Asian Kababs, or Pakoras.
It’s an older style interior from mixed periods that felt like you’re stuck in an old British India ball room squished into an old Pizza Hut. You might be charmed into thinking it’s a hidden gem but it’s not as accessible as I wished it to be. You’re going to hear every single car that passes by whether you want to or not. Great AC! Had natural light.
It wasn’t busy for a Friday night, and I totally understand why. I hope they can try their own food and...
Read moreI will never go back to taste of India! We have been going there for two years but after tonight’s incident we, along with our family and friends, will not return.
We ordered food using uber eats and were told through the app that it would take 30 minutes. 50 minutes later it still said the food was being prepared so we called to check on the status. They told us we were waiting on one more item and it would be 2 minutes. 15 minutes later our food finally arrived. After waiting for an hour we were finally ready to dig in.
As we went through our food we found that it was cold, items were missing, and items that were there were incorrect! We called the restaurant AGAIN and were told that they were very busy and had a full house and that if we wanted the food we were missing we could come and get it ourselves.
Appalled by their horrible customer service and the condition of our order we drove to the restaurant. As we walked in we saw that they only had 3 tables of customers. Full house? Ok. The woman at the counter continued to tell us that there was nothing they could do and she had just gotten there. She told us that because we had ordered through uber eats, that they could not refund us the money or comp us for any of our I’ll experience. Our only option was to have them redo the order or be out $60.
Well we had already missed the party that we were to attend and were two hours in.. might as well. We wait for our food. Get it. Bring it home.
Ready to dig in again, the chicken in the butter chicken was mostly skin and bone and tough inedible meat. Ok, I guess I’ll just eat the sauce. Unfortunately the mild sauce that I ordered ended up being much spicier and too spicy for me to eat.
Overall, a pretty horrible experience that didn’t even have a...
Read moreGood food overall, but a few issues this time
I generally don’t write negative reviews—especially when it comes to small, local restaurants—but I feel it’s worth sharing this experience in hopes it’s helpful and constructive.
We recently got a takeout of almost 230$ from this place for about 16 people from a tiring 8 hr drive with little kids and were excited for a family meal. The staff were polite, and the restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Most of the dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, which we appreciated.
However, we had a couple of issues: We ordered the Paneer Sabzi specifically for the kids, and unfortunately, it came with a strong burnt smell and taste. It was disappointing, especially since it was intended to be a mild and kid-friendly option.
We also asked for one of the adult dishes to be made spicy—which we typically enjoy—but the spice level was extremely high. It went beyond flavorful heat and became uncomfortable, to the point our lips were burning after just a few bites. A clearer spice scale or warning would have helped manage expectations.
We know every restaurant can have an off day, and this won’t stop us from giving it another try in the future. But I do hope the kitchen can be a little more mindful, especially when preparing dishes for kids or adjusting spice levels.
Overall, there’s great potential here—and a lot of people clearly love this spot—but I just wanted to share our experience in...
