We tried this place for the first time today on my birthday! We were told that it's a good place to get really good Mexican food. The best way I can describe this food I would say is Mexican fast food. I will say it's one of the better places to get Mexican food from, simplyfor the flavor most places don't do that well up here in the PNW. However, this isn't a typical Mexican food place, and even though it was good it's not the place we'd frequent La presa in airway heights is hands down our go to. Tacos El Sol doesn't serve chips and salsa, but they do have a salsa bar. My favorite from their salsa bar would be the avocado cilantro salsa. My husband was hoping for a lot of spice , and said none of the salsas were even hot / spicy to him. He ordered camarones a la diabla and there was no spice to this dish (I tried it myself and I cannot do spicy), so it wasn't up to par there. We even asked if it would be spicy as we know most places in Spokane cannot do spicy. This place doesn't do spicy as they told us it would be very spicy. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, my husband said he liked my dish more than he liked his own. Both of our dishes the shrimp was served with the tails on, this is not typical for Mexican food. We literally had to dig into our shrimp to take off all the tails before we could eat our food. The horchata was really good just less cinnamon-y than it is down south. My husband also liked the horchata better than the jaritos pineapple drink that he got. The service consist of they take your order at a walk up counter, call your name for your food when it's ready, you go and get it and serve yourself, and clean up after yourself. Which it looked like several people did not do. We got there right at opening and the floors were very dirty there was trash on a table and it wasn't wiped up another couple came in behind us and they sat down at a booth that had stuff and trash underneath it. Overall it did look appealing visually otherwise just not very well kept. And the mess that was left there I don't know how long it's been there because we were the first people in the restaurant, they literally had to come unlock the...

I ordered online for pick up. I did not get a confirmation so I called to verify they received my order. The man who answered said they did not have any record of my order. I told him the money was taken from my account and he said to bad I don't have your order. He said he was the owner and argued that it was not his problem and I could drive up there and see there was no order. (??) I drove up there and showed him my card was charged and completed (56 dollars) to Tacos El Sol. It showed the time and date. He told me it was not his problem and he pays the company to do his online orders and they had the money and would not give it to him. Again(??). I told him it made no sense that a company he pays would not pay him money they collected from online orders. We have been regular customers and really enjoy the food. But the disrespect and rudeness I was shown was horrible. He said he would make our food for free. I told him it was not free we paid for it. He said not free for us but free for him. (??) I have never had a business owner so unaware. In the end he gave us our money back and told us he did not care if he lost a customer. Unfortunately I would say if he continues to treat customers that have issues like this he will lose customers. It is pretty bad when the owner gives you the worst customer service you...

I'm glad everybody thinks that the food here tastes great. Unfortunately I'm going to have to report an incident that just happened today May 6th 2025. I ordered a simple chicken chimichanga and the chicken was ice cold in the middle. Almost the entire length of the chimichanga. Number one, this tells me right away that they're not serving fresh food, and that this chicken was made I don't know.... how many days before today? Because, if it was made fresh and warm, it should be ready to turn into a burrito or an enchilada and it would be hot. The health implications of what just happened at this place with me today are more than concerning ! Unfortunately I'm going to have to report this place to the health department. The staff was nice. I will give her that. Thank you. But this is like a bad episode of bar rescue or kitchen nightmares. They are serving food that was cooked prior days before they serve it !!!! I wouldn't go in that place ever again never !!! I trust that you were going to cook me a fresh meal, and you didn't even care about me enough to do that. You served me food that was cooked before today, and that is not okay. Your restaurant in whole establishment should be shut...

The last time I ate here, they only had.the taco trailer downtown, it was back in 2016. I live 9 hours away, so that is why it has been so long. The food is just as amazing as I remember, this time I brought my wife, and she was equally impressed. We ordered a carnitas sope, birria tacos, a Walla Walla taco, and a fish taco. If I could rate this meal, 10/10 would be my rating. The love that goes into each order goes beyond your imagination, the food is carefully prepared, even though it's busy as all get out in this small brick and mortar. If you are looking for some of the best tacos in all of Washington, this is your place! My only regret was not taking more pictures before we had devoured most of the food.

From a food truck in the heart of downtown Spokane to a hoppin' brick and mortar...Tacos El Sol is legit. Serving up classic authentic Mexican food at a good price. If they are open expect it to be busy, but don't worry...they have a drive-thru and the kitchen whips through tickets with precision and I've yet to have a bad meal come from their kitchen or food truck. Parking is tight and tables are limited because of the building size...my family of 3 has yet to have an issue finding seating before our food is up. I could go on for days about the food...but instead of reading this review you should already be on your way to have some bomb a$$ food.
