Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took the 2 week Blues Guitar Workshop with Eric Lacovara in August 2014 and found it to be an excellent value for the very reasonable $75 fee. The workshop was put on by George's Music which provided a well-equipped classroom with first-rate support equipment (amps, cables, etc.), even letting me demo a guitar I was considering. Eric Lacovara brought an extraordinary level of energy and worked tirelessly during each 90 minute session. In addition to being an inspirational player, Eric is an excellent teacher capable of anticipating where students will get stuck and approaching the theory and technique in several different ways to ensure understanding. His insights to what was essential to learn by heart versus what should be done strictly from the heart were invaluable, making each session fly by. Woven through the lessons was antidotal information on the great Blues players of our time and what differentiated their playing. Eric provided detailed written lesson plans and incredibly was able to address all the materials within the allotted time without making us feel rushed. The lesson plans are excellent reference materials and provide follow-up exercises to expand on what was taught. As this was a workshop, students had varying levels of experience. Eric made sure all students were challenged without losing any student. Being the least experienced player in the class (or one could say the student with the greatest room for improvement), I felt at ease learning theory and techniques with enough personal attention to allow me to carry the practice forward on my own. Iām looking forward to more workshops with the Lacovara / Georgeās Music team. Paul a.k.a. Irwin Moonblott, soon to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lived in the area my whole life, I came from a neiborhood with 3 generations of kids who played, when George's opened it was the place to go to purchase, meet others who played, drool over what you wished you could afford, relax talk music hang out..an overall good time positive memory. Flash forward 40+ years 2012 I'm home visiting hanging with same buddies looking for a pawn shop guitar to keep at folks when home. Buddy say remember Georges?, yeah know for alittle more money you could get a new Guitar, they still have fair prices and take care of people over making a fast buck. Left pawnshops in the dust headed to Spring city. What an afternoon that was, same buddies, same store same atmosphere... vibe smell feel 40yrs later. We fit right in felt like we belonged there. Met Anthony Mazza the associate working that day he asked me questions, pulled down a few guitars I might like, talked about each one with the knowledge of a man who's been around awhile, as happens when someone is buying, other guitar players came over gave their input played a bit, lots of jokes, stories oldmen, young guys alike..overall great time. The selection was huge. Anthony guided me thru it flawlessly his product knowledge was spot on. In summary I bought a new guitar, name brand I hadn't consider, acoustic/electric, case, strings and felt/ feel very comfortable with the purchase still. Even one of my friends got caught up in the afternoon and spent some cash.. though I live on the other coast George's will be selling me a Les Paul in the future (guess what people they ship) and it will happen when Anthony is at work, thank you for the blast from the past we old guys enjoyed the memories both...
