Quality food, the ingredients are always high quality, meat is thick and tender and the vegetables are thick and crispy. They probably shop at the nearby Produce Junction. The pork fried rice is thick and hearty and keeps well in the fridge, as opposed to most places where it tastes like boxed rice and dries into hard little pellets. This is proper food. Photo: Kung Pao Chicken with pork fried rice on left, Chicken w Cashew w pork lo mein on right, plus fried wontons. Kung Pao Chicken is only mildly spicy. What I liked: $5 box of fried wontons is a great deal, comes with some good salty-sweet dipping sauce. Not greasy at all. All the standard combo items are great, though the spicier foods can be too spicy imo. But always had quality meat/veggies, nothing wilted or soggy. The Lo Mein is good, not too greasy, not too dry. Pretty standard. Crab Rangoon has a good sweet flavor to it, probably my favorite side next to chicken teriyaki and wonton soup. What I didn't like: Pad Thai, maybe just me but the combined flavors of eggs, peanuts and noodles didn't taste right. Good ingredients but no real distinct flavor. Chinese doughnuts, way to greasy. Good when fresh but eating them cold is pretty gross. What was meh: Spring rolls can be hit or miss, sometimes the cabbage inside is mushy, probably from being frozen. Egg Foo Young was a little too greasy, though tasted pretty good and kept well in the fridge.

Date of visit: May 4 2019. After touring the Spring City Mill Studios I came across the street to Mayflower for lunch. For a Saturday afternoon the restaurant was dead. All the time I was there I was the only customer. Mayflower is your typical Chinese restaurant: the room was very warm and the staff was very cold. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken lunch special. The chicken was very chewy and I asked for a knife. No knife. I asked again. No Knife. I asked the daughter and she broke down and got me one. I needed a knife to cut the chicken. I didn't want to choke and die right there. The portion size was great. I ended up bringing it home. Credit cards can be used for payment but there is a minimum charge of ten dollars. They do deliver and you can order ahead online. I will return for lunch the next time I am in the Spring City area.

Usually have a great experience but this last visit was below par. Rice was undercooked. Chicken and broccoli literally had 4 pieces of chicken. Ashame because we usually highly enjoy everything but the taste was just off.

This has been our family's go-to takeout place for the past 8 years. My kids have grown up loving their "dippy chicken" (sweet and sour), and their lo mein has gotten us all through some bad days. Feeling down? Go get yourself some lo mein from Mayflower, make yourself a cup of tea at home, and cozy up under a soft blanket. If I'm having an especially rough day, a side order of steamed vegetables and some crab rangoons can make the world feel a little better. My youngest child says the only way he likes cashews is when he has the cashew chicken from Mayflower. My husband, without fail, orders the bourbon chicken every time. Even when he says he might want to switch it up, we all know he'll still end up ordering the bourbon chicken. For good reason - it is incredibly good! I usually order their pad thai. I know, they are not listed as a thai food place, but they still make the best pad thai I've had within a 20 mile radius! I like to get mine extra spicy so it has a little kick. Their Mongolian beef is good. I've gone through a few phases where I'll prefer their Schezuan chicken or hunan chicken, or I'll feel like trying something a bit different - everything I've tried has been good. I will say that I prefer the white rice over fried, I don't order the general tsao's very often because I find it a little too sweet, and while I don't mind their boneless spare ribs, they aren't something I order often as they can be a little dry, but those are all personal preferences. Also, thank goodness for online ordering! I have anxiety and trouble hearing, which can make talking on the phone or placing orders in person nearly impossible at times, so I greatly appreciate the ability to click a few buttons and know that my order will be ready quickly. That said, the people are always very friendly, their delivery driver always greets me with a smile, and it's clear that a lot of care is put into their business. I look forward to many more years, knowing if I ever need a little joy through the day, an order from Mayflower is a great...

This is the third time ordering from this place and the second time they messed up something on my order. The first time they replaced the meal they made a mistake on and even delivered it but everyone had already eaten by the time my food came. This time we placed an order and we ordered enough to get the free Crab Rangoon but were told it wasn't enough and we had to add something. We chose not to add anything since we added fried dumplings already. When I got home I found that they never added the dumplings. So I didn't get the dumplings or the ragoons which was the main reason we picked Mayflower. To top it off, the meal I ordered came in three small containers instead of the big carry out that the combos normally come in which allows one meal to be stretched into two. Granted, I am picky and usually special order but the tiny portions I received in addition to the mess up that didnt include the dumplings or the free Crab Rangoon has annoyed me so much that I am done with this place, which is a shame because when done right the...
