Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. We are not newbies to this concept as we are regulars at Cats in Bloom in Bloomsburg PA.
The good: Cats are clearly well cared for. The room was the appropriate size for the number of cats. Cats had access to clean water and food. Cats had plenty of toys and some safe spaces if they didn’t want to socialize.
The bad: I 1000% disagree with the age policy (kids of all ages are allowed). There were 3 kids there when we arrived (all clearly no more than age 7-8). Two of them were relentlessly following cats around that clearly didn’t want to socialize with them. One cat “warned” one of the kids multiple times but she didn’t stop. Literally all of the cats but 1-2 were in a hiding spot. Then a mom with FOUR kids walked in (age range was probably 5-10). That’s when we left. I just couldn’t watch these kids stressing the cats out any longer. Also - this was not a large room and there were now 8 adults and 7 kids in there.
My opinion may not be popular but I dont believe the owner’s intent is for this to be a petting zoo when it’s too cold for your kids to go outside. And I realize an age policy may reduce the number of visitors - I’d happily spend more on admission to see these cats not have to deal with the stress of young children.
I also think there should be a reservation system or a time limit or some way to cut down on the number of people in that room at one time. At least at high traffic times.
I really love this concept but there needs to be an age policy and you need more space. Personally I would get rid of the cafe side and make the whole thing...
Read moreI do not recommend! I went here on the soft opening day & the owner was completely unprepared! The coffee was terrible because she said she really don't know how to make coffee! Now, there were a whole bunch of random people coming in & just going straight into the cat room unsupervised. I saw this mama cat & 4 babies get ruff handle, kids chasing them & then a woman picking one of the small kittens up in a play tunnel high up off the ground & the kitten dropped on the hard floor! I went to tell the owner & she did not care! Unbelievable! She should not open a business that she has no knowledge of! There was absolutely no protection nor supervision for the cats. I went there to fully support this business, I even bought a few little things off of the gift rack that she had. This all changed when I seen the treatment of the kitties & her reaction made me walk right out &...
Read moreNot gonna lie: I wasnt sure what to expect with a name like "Craig's Cat Cafe". Something about the name "Craig" didnt translate to "cute place to hang with cats" but it certainly IS a cute place with the cutest kitties. The drinks are simple and great and the space is clean. The employee was friendly and handled everything really well with how busy it was. I loved that they offered a variety of snacks and drinks to enjoy (including a Gluten Free brownie that was so good!). The cat area had plenty of seats and toys. Note that if you order food you have to eat it outside the closed area, but we were allowed to have our covered drinks in with the cats. Not sure if the policy will change so check with the staff. We learned that the Cafe works with the organization that we adopted our cats from: Calla's Critter Rescue. Overall fun experience and we...
