To begin with I decided to go there even though it was in another town because the website said the diagnostic would be free, but when I took my laptop in because it didn't turn on they told me there was a $50 fee for the test, even though a sign plainly said it was $30. The tech claimed the company had changed it, which shows the employees are not fully informed of all business policies and practices. I received a call later telling me they wanted to buy a new battery to 'see if this was the problem', which to me means they had no real idea what was wrong with it, even though the diagnostic test I was paying for should have either told them or narrowed it down. I picked the computer up being told it was repaired, took it home, plugged in the charger and turned it on, only to have the brand new battery rapidly lose power even though it was charging and I turned on every power saving feature I could find. It was at 5% when I turned it and left it to charge a few hours, turned it on to check and somehow it was at 2% before going completely dead which is the exact same reason I took it in to begin with. When I called the shop to tell them, the man who answered the phone told me I should have let the battery charge completely overnight or else using a brand new battery right out of the box could damage it; I told him no one ever said a word about this to me, and I would also like to point out that in order to make sure the computer was working, someone at the store would have had to turn it on. This means they would have installed the battery and used it out of the box, and if it is common knowledge that the battery needed to be charged overnight before use that a bunch of computer experts would have done that first and not risked damaging the brand new battery I paid for. I took the computer back in and the tech hooked it up to run the diagnostic test again, and told me it would be an hour. I came back, waited for some other customers to get done, and then was told the test said it still needed an hour; I would have thought it that case, it could have said it needed two hours in the first place. I left and called the shop, and was told some rare part in my computer was bad and wouldn't be in until the 20-25 which is annoying as I'm in the process of moving and don't have a great amount of time to spend on unplanned activities. Also, if the diagnostic test found this bad part the second time, why didn't the very same test discover it in the first place instead of them guessing a new battery was the answer? I would go to another shop, but I already have money invested with them, so now I'm stuck seeing it through.
On my last trip to the store to pick up my computer, I dealt exclusively with two women who up until that time I hadn't met before. I didn't manage to get their names, but one of them was in charge of welding for the shop, and she had actually offered to come in the day before on her day off just to get my laptop ready sooner because she knew I was moving. She was both professional and friendly, and I honestly feel had I met her in the first place my first review above would have been much different. Their co-worker was equally helpful, aiding me in finding a missing piece to my power supply in a very diligent manner. When the laptop couldn't be repaired, the woman in charge of welding refunded every penny I had paid up to that point in repairs.
Because of my interaction with these two, I have decided to up my review from one star to three. My final advice for anyone thinking about using this same store is, if at all possible, deal directly and mainly with these two women, and I promise you will not be disappointed in...
Read moreI am a little frustrated with how the repair process turned out. Some context. I am having an issue with a 4090 graphics card and decided to take it here to get it looked at. If you know anything about computers you aren't buying a GPU of that caliber unless you are an enthusiast and have a deep understanding of computer hardware. I legitimately felt like I had a better grasp of the card than the people who were doing the repairing. For example: I spent 5 days troubleshooting the card myself before deciding I needed outside help. I ran every software you could think of that monitors hardware. I removed and repeated the card. I removed and redownloaded the drivers. I came to the conclusion that as long as the card is not being used for gaming, it can run any stress test and perform admirably. However if you play any game it will crash out generally 10 to 60 minutes and you get hardware failure and forced restart. Temperature is within norm. Power supply is sufficient. So I bring it in to get tested. I called first and asked if they had the capability to work on a 4090 card. I was told yes. I described the issue. They had the PC from Saturday until Friday the next week. On Thurday I called to ask how it was going and I was told the card has passed all tests. No issues. I ask if a game was launched. I was told no. I reminded them of the issue. I reached back out the next day and asked if the issue occurred while playing a game and I was told yes. They replicated the issue yet could not trace it down. They ran the same stress tests that I did. (GPU-Z to monitor, Furball for stress testing the GPU under load, cpu and memory tests) The end result was I picked up the PC and paid 60 for my evaluation. I took the PC home and immediately ran into the same issue. I tried flashing the BIOS and reinstalling my driver's. I was told by an employee that the issue has to be the Steam application launching my games since the hardware fails during that. I chuckle....I doubt this issue will ever be resolved and I will send the card out for a new one...but I also feel like the store was not prepared to handle this type of hardware nor how to approach the troubleshooting process properly. I have a recovery USB with my original bios and windows installation that could have been useful to them in identifying the issue but I believe it was too complex for them to assess. Maybe phone repairs and cheaper laptops have no fear but if you sank $5000+ into a rig maybe stear clear if you know what you are doing. You probably have a similar level of expertise if you are buying this kind...
Read moreSCAM BEWARE, they break your phone while they try to repair it and are not professional enough to fix that so they returned my phone MUCH WORSE than it was before taking it there. I brought my Galaxy Phone for a focus issue with one lens of the rear camera, after 6hours of having my Phone and pushing the pick up time they tell me they were not able to fix it and declare it unreparable but when I pick it up to my surprise they returned it to me with new issues! The camera app had no image at all, it was all crashed, I reset it myself to factory settings and find out the rear camera was left very dirty on the inside, its super slow and and the front camera is now not working at all! it crashes every time I try to swap cameras and this didn't happen before it was left there, selfie camera and app were perfecto and unrelated to the other issue. I take it back and after a whole day there they say they could not fix the damage that was made in their facility and would not be responsible enough to give it back to me in the shape it was given to them. They told me to to send it to samsung instead and I should pay for all that (which break while in their possetion and manipulaltion of the phone). These people are unfortunately nor skilled enough to fix the issue nor professional enough to fix the one they did nor responsible enough to follow their terms and conditions since there it says they must repair or replace items damaged while in their possession. Now my problem is bigger because i I trusted them. Would not bring a device here ever again since they...
