Luis's Used Appliances — Attraction in Springfield

I wish I could say it was a good experience because Luis is actually a nice guy to chat with but he's not honest. In retrospect, his dishonesty is probably because of his desperation rather than his being a genuine thief. Nonetheless...Luis told me a gas stove I liked was ready for pick up so a friend and I traveled 21 miles to get it. Already paid my friend for his truck. He said he'd convert it from propane to natural gas. He hadn't. Didn't even tell me until I asked! (Lie #1.) Then he told me that all I'd need was to get cheap conversion pieces from Amazon and easily screw them in myself...well, the parts could only be obtained through the manufacturer and they were different from the cheap ones he described. They were $70. Not the end of the world but after watching the YouTube videos I saw that I'd have to open up the stove and do surgery. Enough already. (Thus lie #2). A plumber charged me $175. Surprize!!! Luis did come down $50 bucks. I should've asked for $100 off but I believed it when he told me that the installation was foolproof and relatively cheap. (Did he know? He must have known at least that it MIGHT turn into an expensive project.) I felt a little guilty because of the squalor of his shop and he looks to be in his 70's. (Broken toilet filled with piss and a mop. That way for at least a week. Far more disgusting than any gas station bathroom I've been in. ) He comes off warm and nice and he is. But desperate people do desperate things. He will tell you: "I'm doing this since 1996." (i.e. "trust me"). I strongly suspect that most of the 5-star "reviews" here are just Luis's friends who can write proper English. Good luck but...

Bought both Washer and Gas Dryer (hard to find Used) about 2 months ago..wanted to wait and give review to see how they would work out..even though they aren't the same brand looks good together..nice set..good price and delivery was easy..delivery guys and owner are real polite..being new to Springfield appreciate the service and pricing in our budget..Definitely recommend at least to go and see what they have to offer..store is small they were cleaning and moving things around the day we came..hey he's a small business man and offers the community a service that is appreciated..New appliances are...

Place is no good. We’ve went through 2 fridges not working already. At first we’d call and he’d try to fix whenever it was convenient to him knowing our family has no food because it all went bad due to the fridge not working. Now that we call it’s like he knows not to answer because once again the Fridge does not work. not once but twice has a fridge from his store has been unable to last more than a month. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. AVOID this place...
