Schwaig Art Glass Works — Attraction in St. Louis

I contacted John Schwaig about creating a custom art glass piece for our home. It has been a delightful experience. He totally comprehends the design I want, and he has helped me select the glass colors. I do not need the finished creation until next month, so it is not yet completed. In the meantime, I noticed that he had an old stained glass window, that I was infatuated with; but it needed some repairs. I expressed my interest in the old window. He has now restored the old window, and personally came to my house to install it. It is perfect and lovely! His restoration work is outstanding. While he was at my house, he also helped me hang a new (large) framed picture that I had just gotten; and re-hang several of my existing pictures in different places. I contacted John to repair an entry hall leaded glass panel that’s more than 125 years old. The leaded glass panel was covered by a Plexiglas panel. John removed the panel and replaced the opening with the Plexiglas. He told me it would be about a week to do the repair but he returned in two days with the finished panel! When he installed it, the opposite glass panel was dull so John removed the Plexiglas covering so I could wash the leaded glass and the Plexiglas concerting it and he then reinstalled it. I then asked about repairing two stained glass window panels that were over 100 years old. One window was badly damaged so he had to come back with a board large enough to safely carry the windows. He rebuilt both windows and then made a frame to suspend the windows in front of another window. The job was done with care. You can tell John enjoys his craft. I highly recommend John...

We needed the stain glass window in our front door repaired. The window was in very back shape. Most of the lead joints were broken and it was VERY loose in the door from the years of abuse. Plus it had two broken glass pieces. I was worried about the amount of time it would take for it to be repaired. Thought I might have to cut a piece of wood to secure our front door for a week or more, and then I found John. John came by on the next Saturday. He carefully removed the very weak window, repaired all of the broken joints, replaced the broken glass, and reinstalled it the same day!
