DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS.
This place is dirty, machines do not work, full of lairs, and they rob you out of your money. I signed up right at the beginning of the year. Then I asked if they offer any free trainer sessions with new members. I was told no then yes then no I still do not know the answer. Cynthia was is the assistant manager was pushing to sign up. I was hesitant due to money and she said"if I had to move just show her a piece of mail and I can cancel the contract" This was an absolute lie!!
I lost my job last week and had to move back in with my parents showed them I was moving. She completely blew me off handed me a paper stating on the top I had to pay the full term of my agreement. I tried to have her explain it she would just walk away and mumble. This is unprofessional! I mean I cannot even imagine this happening in real life I thought I was on some TV show. She literally would just keep walking away. So I had to speak to someone else who informed me that unless I was moving 25+ miles away from any LA Fitness that I could not break the contract. I explained my situation that I do not have a job and they just said call customer service. Not even to attempt to call a manager when I was there.
Regarding the physical training sessions themselves I was supposed to get 2-3 free and I received 1 if you would call it that. It was just the physical assessment they give you before you sign up for a trainer. Again lied too. Then I started working with my first trainer. He could care less about me reaching my goals. He just wanted his money and be on his way. He was 5min late one time and I was fine with that he did make up the time. The next week I was 5min late and he cut off early and not because he was busy. He just went to the front desk to scan people in. The third week he never even showed up and he made no appointments for the future! I went to someone saying I need a new trainer cause this one obviously is not working.
No one wipes down in this gym and part of me does not blame them because the paper towels & disinfectant are not readily available and half the paper towel dispensers do not work. Avoid any contact to your eyes or top of your water bottle with your hands. Cardio equipment is always broken and always dirty. As in you can see brown layers of filth on machines. Weights are never put back its a scavenger hunt, and the cable machines are always missing clips.
I would go to Planet Fitness in a heartbeat unless you need classes or a pool. I am writing this 6 weeks into the year and I am already on my 2nd physical trainer and canceling...
Read moreI signed up knowing that I would only be in the country for 2-3 months max. Joao/John is the person who did my in-person sign up and he, unprompted, told me that he would refund the annual fee because I would only have a membership for such a short time. This is not something I requested but was offered by him and was very appreciated by me. He told me to contact the club once the charge hit my card, two weeks after signing up.
I was working out the day that I asked about the refund in person (a week after the annual fee charge appeared) and was told by John to call later that week on Thursday. I did as told and was then told on the phone that I should have asked for someone else but that John would take care of the refund and it could take a few days before I see it posted. I waited almost a month with no refund seen. I emailed the address listed on John’s business card, but never received a reply. A week later, I called and was told that both John and the club manager were off the clock but that a note would be left and it would be done first thing on Monday. We’re now at friday and still no refund.
I know it’s only $50 - but it was promised to me and it’s now two months later with no refund in sight. It’s my fault for not getting it in writing and shame on me I guess for taking the assistant manager at his word. No problem signing up and taking payment though!
As far as the club itself - the pool, which is what I mainly signed up for, is grimy and needs a facelift. There’s mold in the corners and hair balls all over the place. Also, the lifeguards are on their phones the entire time - at one point I considered getting out and asking if she was filming because she had the phone pointed towards the lane and was laughing. Nope - just on a FaceTime call. Good thing I’m a competent swimmer because I wouldn’t trust I’d be saved should there be...
Read moreEdit: I’ve been debating on whether to update this review for a few weeks now but the recent change to their pool has pushed me past the tipping point. While their gym facility and equipments are still great and their staffs are still amazing, this review has became a 2/5 due to the way LA fitness are leasing out their swimming pool.
You see shortly after my review some 6 months ago, this LA fitness location began to lease the swimming pool to a third party called British swim school teaching kids how to swim. While this normally isn’t a problem, pools gets rented out regularly, this particular program takes up two days during peak prime hours between 3-8 and take over two out of only three lanes. I was first told that they were only here because the Walpole LA fitness had issues with their pool, but I see now that was a lie because the program is now here permanently. And when there are swimmers lined up to use the single lane that they now forced us to use, I was then told that 5-6 is a terrible time to swim. No kidding? Maybe don’t let a third party take up 67% of your pool at the busiest hours? What other time can I be there if I’m working or busy?
But now you might be thinking two days a week isn’t bad, this guy is overreacting. Well I wasn’t happy about it but you’re right, two days a week isn’t bad. But guess what? La fitness decided the same thing so now it’s not two days a week but soon to be four days a week. Imagine that. Four out of seven days the pool at the gym you paid a membership for will be filled with kids. Imagine if the basketball court was half taken four out of seven days from 3-8 for a kids training school. It would be a circus.
Old: Great facility and equipments. Staffs are very friendly and always greet me. Cleanliness is...
