I came to this salon looking to dye my hair blonde, after having a consultation, they advised me to go with a balayage, since I work in a pool and was not willing to maintain it. I got a balayage, which looked nice but cost over $300 (for the basic balayge + cost of extra bowls needed to complete the dye job). After I received the pricing for the different salonists, I saw that the one I went with was one of the more expensive stylists.
A few months later, I decided I was ready to commit to the maintenance of having all blonde hair, so I went back but chose a stylist who was a little more affordable. I told her what I wanted, just to dye my hair blonde and I added in a trim, since the ends of my hair were damaged. THAT WAS IT
After spending about 5 hours there, I came out looking almost exactly the same as I did before. When I got the bill, it came out to $547.00! They charged me $75 for a haircut (when I only got a trim), $270 for a balayage (I only wanted to dye my hair blonde), $100 for the extra bowls needed to finish the dye job (this was the only thing they warned me about), $40 for a conditioner she used after dying (that she didn't ask if I wanted), $30 for the second part of the conditioner, and $28 for a leave-in conditioner. This was the first time I was dying my hair, so I didn't know what to expect. She never asked me if I wanted the extra conditioners, she just told me to take them home (I thought maybe it was part of the process?) and then charged me for them. Then I was told I had to come back to get another balayage to get to to shade of blonde that I wanted to get to.
After talking to some friends and family, I could see I was very clearly ripped off. It costed most of them $100-$150 to dye their hair and never full price of a haircut for a trim. It's been almost a month, and I'm still trying to get in touch with the owner to return the conditioners and get my money back.
I gave this review 2 stars because at least my hair wasn't ruined...it just cost me over $500 for it to look exactly the same. I know it's not just me because nobody noticed I got my hair dyed, much less spent that much...
Read moreMy experience at Salon Decorum was outstandingly amazing. It exceeded all of my expectations of a salon. Shayanca was my hairdresser/barber for my first visit, and she made the experience so remarkable. Not only did she thoroughly walk me through the commitment of getting the haircut that I wanted, but she also was kind enough to explain the step-by-steps of the after care process. Also, she was very transparent with me about what would work and what wouldn’t work while taking into consideration my hair texture/style that I wanted to pursue. I’m very tender-headed, and without even having to tell Shayanca that, she already treated me as if. She was super gentle while giving me my headwash, and also made sure that I felt comfortable throughout the whole journey by asking, “Is this okay?” She also made sure to style my hair, as I had concerns that it would not look how I wanted it to. At the end, I ended up with a bomb haircut, a well-done shape up on my undercut, and extremely healthy hair. What really exceeds my expectations about my experience with Shayanca and Salon Decorum is how caring they are. Not only was I booked an appointment for my next haircut (8 weeks out), but Shayanca still texts me from time to time to make sure that my hair is still meeting and exceeding my expectations. They made themselves available for contact in case I had any further questions about how to manage my hair. That is something that in the twenty years of getting haircuts, I have never seen, heard, or experienced before. Overall, the entire staff of the salon was super friendly and conversational. You could truly tell as a customer that all these employees/owner(s) want is to make you the best version of yourself that you could be. I’m extremely grateful for this experience, and will be coming back for...
Read moreI had been considering going for the big “chop” for over a year. All my life I’ve had long hair, always longer than 8 inches, and I was ready for a change. Shayanca was the ONLY person I trusted with this! Throughout the time leading up to my haircut, she gave me advice and truly made sure I was ready for this big change. She went above and beyond to search hairstyles that she thought would best fit my persona and the style I wanted. The day of my haircut, the salon was prepared with all of the proper precautionary COVID measures and I felt completely safe. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly and even hyped me up from start to finish. Throughout the entire process, Shayanca made sure I was comfortable and walked me step by step through the cut, wash, styling, and products to use that would help me truly get the full experience of my new hair style. What I appreciated so much as well is Shy’s attention to detail - she is so knowledgable from the best shampoo/conditioner for my sensitive scalp which I’ve dealt with my whole life (26 years of haircuts and no one has ever acknowledged this, never mind gave me recommendations!) all the way down to the best way to brush my hair! She set realistic expectations as to what type of styling would work best with my super thick hair and gave me the confidence to go home and be able to make it look as good as she did! Overall, my experience at Salon Decorum and with my hairstylist Shayanca was such a memorable experience. I am still in awe at how amazing my hair looks, it’s better than what I would’ve ever imagined (plus, all of the compliments I’m receiving are great too!) If you’re ready for more than just a haircut or new hairstyle and ready for a life changing experience - head to Salon Decorum and ask...
