Honestly this is my first time to eat AniRamen, the best ramen I have even had hands down. I came with a group of 8 of friends after school since it was the last day of school, one of my friends had suggested to come here since he had past experiences with this place but a few of my friends were skeptical for example one of my friends never had ramen before and was scared to try it, another example was 2 people wanting to go to a place they had went. But in the end we went to Ani Ramen. We got as we had a reservation and we looked at the menu, small and simple. I got the Ani Ramen which was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING everyone either got Ani Ramen, or the Shoyu and everyone loved it. Problem was, we had brought about 160 dollars in all from everyone yet our bill was 187 about and we had calculated prices before, got in a bit of a pickle we solved the problem got some extra money and the waiters were good about it
PROS: The ramen was sooooooo good, the waiters were nice, the aesthetics were good the music was just loud enough we could hear and quiet enough we could hear eachother, food was so fresh and so good I definitly reconmend this place but... the cons
CONS: Wait was a while and the place wasnt too pact, the prices are a bit shaky for a 8 man group we had 160 dollars and we bought whatever was in our budget but there was a 20% gratuity price which we did not know about so we did not have enough money and my friend had to get some more. I feel like if we were told about the gratuity we would not have had to fight over how we went over budget.
FINAL STATEMENTS: Ani Ramen is a amazing place the best ramen in town I reconmend the Ani Ramen with the Chashu and the pork bone broth was amazing. But the place is expensive and if you are going with a group to celebrate then this is a the place but I would say a 1 timer a year with a group. Ani Ramen is amazing and thats the last thing I...
Read moreI have had lunch at Ani Ramen in downtown Summit at least 18+ times since they first opened this branch restaurant on Springfield Ave. Unfortunately, over the past several years the quality of both the food and service have really deteriorated. The ramen noodles used to be very good, but during my last few visits it has been served at lukewarm temperature, where I felt the need to bring that disturbing fact to the attention of my server, asking him if they could please heat it up for me. Thankfully, they said they would prepare a new bowl from scratch. This should have been embarrassing, but it was not an isolated incident. Also, the service is inconsistent and slow, considering that the restaurant is hardly ever even half full when I am there. Once seated, I have to make a concerted effort to get the attention of any waiter/waitress, who all seem to be more interested and preoccupied with scrolling on their cell phones. Finally, every table that I have sat at had its wooden table top’s finish incredibly tacky/sticky, to the point that the paper napkins really stick to the table and they tear as you attempt to peek they free. One’s forearms skin also sticks to the table tops, which is incredibly gross and probably unsanitary! All of these issues can be easily addressed and fixed if the Owner’s/Management really care to do so. Thankfully, this is not the only ramen noodle restaurant in this area. Time will tell if things improve, which I hope they do. UPDATE (August 2024) - At my most recent lunch at Ani Ramen in downtown Summit, I was very pleased to find that my table, as well as both tables on either side of me had clean, non-sticky table tops. The service was polite and attentive and the ramen was piping hot. Thank you management for actually responding and addressing my previously stated observations and concerns, hence my review change for three...
Read moreSuper super loud! It’s like being at a club. Even shouting at top of my lungs, my companion couldn’t hear me! After we got out of the place, it was so nice and peaceful.
As for ramen, the ramen was good but the broth was underwhelming. There was not depth and creaminess to the broth like an authentic ramen shop. And it is insanely expensive - $18 for the chef’s ramen. The chef’s ramen broth tasted like water and soy sauce.
The shrimp bun was quite good. Flavor profile as well as the blend of the crispy shrimp and a bit of citrus.
The wings? The spicy wings were good and had a unique flavor profile. The teriyaki wings? Again underwhelming. The teriyaki sauce tasted like any other teriyaki sauce from a jar and was slathered on the wings.
The wait was ridiculous too. 30 minutes while there were free tables. I asked the hostess about the table for 4 which had remained unoccupied for 20 minutes and she insisted they needed to keep it for a party of 4 when they walk in. I’m not sure if that’s typical but I haven’t had that happen with some other places I have frequented. Seems silly when you have a long wait. Then as I stood there waiting then was I offered the communal table seating and this was after 20 minutes of waiting. I honestly wouldn’t have waited except for how hyped this place was. I would not return for food nor would I ever wait for this.
The ramen at Mitsuwa in Edgewater is far superior and for 50 percent less. I know it’s not close but it’s yummy ramen!
