Surf City BarberShop — Attraction in Surf City

Friendly staff but pricey. I had needed a beard line up because I had an event later that night and had just got a haircut 4 days prior so I just needed a quick beard line up so the edges were crisp and it was a monday so not many places are open Monday. So I figured give them a shot. The women proceeded to use the buzzer to line it up and said she was finished took less then 10 mins and I said can you use the straight razor, she did warn me it would be more money which I agreed but no price was mentioned, but I said just do it since I wanted it to look good and that’s what I came there for otherwise I would of just did it myself. Usually anywhere else I go for a beard trim with straight razor is $30 max which I expected to pay but when she rang me up she said it was $50 in which I did a double take and asked how much again because I thought I miss understood her. I didn’t argue with her, I just paid it and went on my way. Just find it crazy because it wasn’t anything crazy or anything difficult considering it was basically lined up since it was done 4 days prior. Guess shame on me for not getting the price before hand.

Update: I received a reply from the owner explaining a hot towel shave is $50 but I never received a hot towel on my face. It was just shaving cream. Maybe that’s what is considered to be hot towel here but been to plenty of barber shops and got hot towel service and they place actual hot towel on your face before shaving. I was never offered that. Also I wasn’t looking for a cheap service and I understand prices are competitive and so on but if that is the price, I should receive the full service...

Love this place...not only are these ladies fast, they know how to cut perfectly and prices are reasonable and hours are great. I’m from Boston and I’m here every year and I’ll always come here for a great cut. The location is perfect and even if there’s a wait, there are usually three barbers at all times that move the line quickly....
