I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience at New York Lace. First off, I would like to start out by saying I am not one to normally complain/bash about a company on the internet, but after the poor customer service and treatment that our bridal party endured something needs to be said to possibly save other women from this frustration and disappointment. I would not recommend doing any business at this establishment ever. We first had an appointment where all of the bridesmaids in the bridal party, including myself, came to look at potential dresses. Our appointment seemed rushed, and like the employees really did not care about us finding dresses that we loved. We ended up finding one that we all liked and ordered them.
When the dresses finally came in, I scheduled an appointment to start the alterations process. The party was told that out alterations would cap at 90$. When I first tried the dress on, the man helping me tried to zip it and could not because it was to tight. He then called in the seamstress where both of the squeezed my body just to get into this dress. Just trying to zip and clip the dress took two employees to squeeze the dress onto my body. The man refused to take out any of the dress and also never hemmed my dress which I thought was strange, because I am fairly short and other women in the party that are taller than me received a hem. He also told me that he didnât mean to be rude, but âif I could lose 5 pounds the dress would fit better.â I was absolutely appalled by how I was treated at this fitting. I also payed 90$ for my shoulder to be taken up a small amount, nothing else. I left the appointment unsure, but trusting that the seamstresses knew what they were doing. Boy was I wrong.
Once I found out about the brides experience, which consisted of receiving her dress ripped in two places and again, extremely tight, I decided to take my dress to another seamstress to get a second opinion. The seamstress was absolutely horrified at the condition my dress was in. It was completely botched. She told me that the dress was way too tight and had to let out much of the dress, when the original seamstress attempted to take up the shoulder she did it incorrectly leaving the front of my dress a complete mess. She also had to hem only the front of my dress because I was tripping over it, but said she was not going to touch the back of my dress because it was already too short. I am now left paying another 110$ for alterations, on top of the 90$ that I originally paid at NYL. I am attaching the pictures for everyone to see. It is unacceptable.
When I reached out to the store, not only did I receive poor treatment, so did the BRIDE. NYL told us to bring our dresses back and that my dress looked like âit fit really goodâ in the original fitting, even though it took two employees to cram my body into it. I will not be bringing my dress back to this establishment, it is too risky with the wedding being only two weeks away. I canât afford for them to mess the dress up any more. Not only that, but I do not want to be degraded and talked down to while I am being fitted. The employees also refused to take any accountability/responsibility in this matter. We are so disappointed in how we were treated in this process. This is supposed to be a happy and exciting time. Do not do business with them! Save...

I purchased my wedding dress from NewYork Lace and, overall, I do love the dress. However, the process was incredibly unprofessional, and I was left feeling disappointed and frustrated by the lack of communication and transparency.
When I first bought my dress, I was told by Deloris, the owner, that they offer 3 dress fittings, which seemed like a great service, especially since everything was being done at the same location. I had read positive reviews, which gave me confidence in choosing them to be part of my wedding journey.
The first dress fitting was fine â I also added a tiara and a short veil to be sewn to my longer veil. I paid half of the cost for those items at that fitting, but when I asked about the cost of alterations, I was told it would be calculated later, which I didnât mind at the time. However, three days later, I received a call from Deloris informing me of the alteration price. I was shocked by the amount, considering only minor adjustments were needed. When I expressed my concern and said I no longer wanted the alterations, Deloris told me they had already started the work, which was incredibly frustrating. There was no communication about the cost or the alterations being started without my approval.
My second fitting was frustrating as well. The seamstress didnât even begin working on my dress until 4 days before my fitting, and the veil wasnât sewn together. Deloris had lied to me just to get money from me. She told me they started but nothing had happened yet. Anyways, I had been told I could pay half the balance at my second fitting and the rest at the third, which I did. But, just three days later, I received another call from Deloris, extremely upset, demanding I pay the full remaining balance immediately. I explained that I had been told by both her and the staff that I could pay at my final fitting, but Deloris refused to acknowledge that and became increasingly upset.
Overall, I felt lied to, misled, and very upset by the lack of communication and professionalism. The experience left a sour taste, and I will not be doing business with them again. The dress may be lovely, but the process was...
