0/5 - RUN!
Attend GCU instead for what you invest.
It is crucial to consider the potential challenges that may arise. In the unfortunate event of contracting COVID (I from Clinicals), the consequences can be severe, such as failing and repeating a class. Core coursework allows for only one opportunity to make a mistake, as any further repetition is not permissible and results in expulsion.
Additionally, it is important to note that credits earned at this institution are non-transferable to other schools. Therefore, if a student reaches their senior year and has already repeated a core class, their academic journey will come to an end. Appeals, even with medical documentation, prove to be ineffective in such circumstances. **It is essential to recognize that all undergraduate courses, including general education classes, become null and void if the school decides to dismiss a student, necessitating a fresh start.
Regrettably, the Deans at Arizona College of Nursing are not easily approachable or friendly. They can be demeaning, which is particularly disheartening for someone like myself who is in their mid-30s. Perhaps they mistook my age and believed they could belittle me without consequence.
Furthermore, there is a significant turnover of instructors, resulting in multiple teachers for a single class, each employing different teaching methods. This lack of consistency may lead to unexpected changes and challenges for students, especially when this affects you several times in just 1 course, resulting in a near pass grade. ie. a 75% test average rather than the required 77% (btw, GCU is 75%).
In terms of the teaching personnel, most are pleasant, although there are a few exceptions. This is a common occurrence in any educational institution or workplace. However, it is worth mentioning that it is inappropriate and disheartening for a teacher to discourage a student from pursuing a career in nursing based on their disability, especially on the first day of school and without personal knowledge of the student. (Especially when you're not far from completing the program).
It is important to note that AZCN may not adequately accommodate disabilities beyond ADHD. There appears to be a significant gap in understanding certain disabilities amongst the Deans, including those related to traumatic brain injury.
Attend a compassionate educational institution that embraces and supports students who require additional practice or tutoring, without subjecting them to criticism or denying them these essential resources on the grounds of fairness to other students. It is crucial to acknowledge that every individual possesses unique abilities, and numerous students would greatly benefit from increased tutoring opportunities in core subjects. It is astonishing to note that despite the high cost of tuition, the necessary resources for such support were not adequately provided.
This school was an extremely unpleasant experience, and this perspective is shared by someone who already holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree with Honors, from a reputable university. The behaviors I observed and experienced at this school are inappropriate and unprofessional.
What a waste of 20k that could have been applied towards my current Clinical PsyD degree.
As I said, if you are really passionate about entering Nursing, go to GCU, I am sharing advice based on my own mistake.
I question the extent to which the feedback given by individuals is taken into account. My time at this establishment was far from pleasant, as I experienced mistreatment from certain instructors, Deans, and even some classmates, which made me feel as though I was in some emotional concentration camp. It is disconcerting that bullying is allowed to persist without being addressed. I was unaware of the level of competitiveness and hostility within the nursing field. Some instructors made me feel inadequate, and I ponder whether wearing my Star of David necklace during lecture days influenced their treatment of me and the denying of my...
Read moreRecently established myself in Arizona and with relative ease, I was accepted into this college. First program American Politics is required which is already an abnormal curriculum for a degree in Nursing, however, given the accelerated 8-week structure, I didn't show much opposition. Teacher was unprofessional and constantly defending herself against the barrage of reasonable questions she was asked by students. During the final exam which was held online on an outsourced program, "Examplify", half the students were unable to access the exam and instead of problem solving, she forced the students to call technical support - which they immediately redirected us back to her. Eventually after over an hour, she fixed the issue after initially blaming us for not being prepared. I contacted certain higher positions of the school to directly fix the problem and constantly referenced the high cost of tuition in comparison to the product in which was supplied to us throughout the painful 8-week section. What actually prompted me to leave a negative review was that the certain appointed officials replied to my complaints with, "I also understand your many, many references to the cost of the school. When attending a private, accredited school there is a cost involved, but it will be well worth it when you are finished" which is the equivalency of buying a series of books, having one of the books damaged with ripped pages, then having the company reply with, well, it's worth it at the end, you'll understand! Also, no we won't give you a [partial] refund for the service in which you paid for. The American Politics class is over and currently I'm in Human Anatomy II under a new professor. I personally don't have issues with her simple structure, however, multiple other students have been complaining about this instructor for awhile. I do have an issue with what occurred today. The professor just commented to the class that students during ZOOM meetings are required to have their screen on or it's "ILLEGAL" and constantly references jail. I immediately replied in the chat - without disrupting class - that this is incorrect. Students have rights, and although she is a decent professor, she shouldn't mistake class policy for legalities nor utilize fear mongering to scare students into obeying her demands no matter how reasonable. If a student isn't being disruptive, don't waste multiple students time and tuition money on consistently referencing the that not all students have their cameras on. I paid, we paid, top dollar for services and if others choose to learn and participate in their own style, especially for pre-reqs, do not impede their success with ineffective preferences.
There have been accommodations but ANY private or public school will make these. Some of the accommodations that have been made include being able to miss class lectures (pre-reqs only) and instead spend my time working and paying bills which has massively assisted in my recovery financially during Covid19.
If you simply desire to obtain a BSN rapidly without a waitlist and have no preferences on teaching, then this school is for you, however, if you care about the quality of information you receive and the respect for students, I implore you to look elsewhere.
I will update my ratings as I continue throughout this program. If this comment leads to my dismissal, I will make necessary and appropriate actions that'll lead to my success under the Consumer Fairness Reviewer Act of 2016.
I wish nothing but for this institution to improve so that students have the highest quality of education for their success as medical experts. Best of health and luck during your searches for...

I am happy to attend such a great establishment that takes the education of students seriously. Although there are Pros and Cons to every establishment, AZCN has taken the time to listen to students’ concerns and address them accordingly.
With the infusion of new blood in the Assistant Dean panel the concerns that I have seen have been put to rest for the most part. ADN Graeff and ADN Segura together with Dean Olson have been outstanding when it comes to addressing the immediate concerns of myself and my peers that would hinder our learning.
When applying to this school there was a lot of rumors of the staff never being available to the students and that they only help unless you ask. Well, I can't stand that. Professor Sanderson and Kimberly Gledhill are walking proof of that being a lie. I find it very hard to believe that these two will not ask you how your day is going and not be concerned if you said anything other than good or excellent.
As for only helping when asked, Assistant Dean Graeff just implemented a quiet yoga room during finals. This room was scented with lavender and had candles everywhere that facilitated a calming environment. She even gave out lavender shower scrubs to students free of charge and I've never felt so relaxed! Nursing school is stressful so taking the time to coordinate some stress relieving activities is outstanding. Since she has been Dean there have been more guidance counselors on campus which is what is needed to be able to provide that individual attention for some students to succeed. Another rumor is that we get the bottom of the barrel Clinicals. I like to think it is always about perception. I know tons of students who got rushed into an emergency surgery (with permission of our Adjunct instructor) just in semester 6! I also know tons of students that have never done an IV going into semester 8. It all coincides with how persistent you are to learn. Assistant Dean Segura has rid our clinical load of any Step-down nursing facilities. (Which was our students’ and adjuncts’ biggest concerns.) NO MORE SNF’S!!!! Some of the most prominent hospitals such as Phoenix children’s and Banner University, Banner Baywood, Banner Desert, Abrazo Scottsdale HonorHealth and more are all part of the list that we will be visiting this semester!
Dean Olson, although she looks like a Pediatric Nurse, she can turn into a Cardiac ICU Nurse quickly. She has always been inviting and very easy to talk to. Usually, you don’t really want to have to talk to the Dean so I cannot attest to how that goes, but she is always willing to spark conversation in passing and is highly approachable. So many good things are coming to this school and now more than ever they are listening and addressing students’ concerns. Dean Graeff and Dean Olson have always had their doors open to listen to students’ concerns on the 4th floor and Dean Segura has always been a quick email away. I speak from the heart about this school when I say nothing compared to the instructor’s that teach here. There are too many to count and name but they are a bunch of patient and kind souls that are very serious about creating a staff that will be taking care of them in the future. Last time I checked we had a 92.8 percent NCLEX success rate with automatic...
