Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Phoenix Tempe/Airport — Hotel in Tempe

The room we were given was dirty, I mean linens not changed, no towels and not vacuumed. Once we discovered the room was dirty, we made the management and staff aware of the oversight. The front desk was apologetic but stated there was nothing they could do, that it was up to management. I sent an email to the General Manager and asked for a call to discuss the incident. I was sent an email by the hotel GM, and while she did acknowledge the issue, she wasn’t willing to discuss the matter any further, stating I returned your points and apologized. I called Marriott corporate and advised them of the issue and they also contacted the hotel to investigate, but no further action was taken. My points were not returned (to be fair, I stated it was not about the points) but for the hotel to be dismissive and keep my points says a lot about the management.

The good: It’s a very nice hotel! The front desk staff is always helpful. The hotel is centrally located and is really close to Sky Harbor Airport. The room are (usually) spotless and the hotel is quiet. It’s convenient to most of Phoenix and the surrounding area.

The not so good: I’m Ambassador Elite with Marriott ($20,000 or more in stays each year) and stay at this hotel a lot being located minutes from Sky Harbor. One would think Marriott would treat this kind of guest with a smile due to being in a Marriott property more than I’m at home, but I was treated like I’ve never stayed in a Marriott property previously. I’ve since cancelled all reservations at this Fairfield Inn, Tempe and will take my business elsewhere.

My husband, two daughters (23,16) and I were visiting my son for a long weekend. I travel frequently for business and use Marriott, so I searched their properties for something close to my son. This property had very good reviews, so I booked.

It was beyond great. Property was fairly new (6 months), so very clean and modern. The staff was incredible. Check-in lady on Friday (6/29) and Monday (7/2) was personable, friendly and had good ideas for our Sedona trip. The breakfast staff was awesome! Friendly, kept the buffet completely stocked (even when we came down half hour before breakfast was finishing), and more important, CLEAN!! Breakfast was so good that we passed on eating out brunch on Sunday and saved our money and ate at the hotel.

My husband, daughter and I used the fitness room. It wasn't too small, was clean, and had ample machines (at least 2 each of elliptical and treadmill). Great selection of free weights.

I used the business center for a few hours Friday morning. I was a little caught off guard in that it was in the open across from the lobby (not a small room somewhere), but I was OK with it - just hope I didn't bother people with all my phone calls. It was actually kind of nice not to be in a tiny room somewhere.

What a gorgeous hotel. Airport shuttle service with a smile. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast set up is much nicer than other hotels that I've stayed at in the past. This is a brand new property and no expenses were spared. The free WiFi is lightning fast! Nice TVs. The workout room is just the right size with great equipment. The rooms were clean! The whole bottom floor has a huge open feel to it. Ice water is available at the front desk with a nice market to buy snacks from as well. There are computers for guests to use in the lobby. 2 elevators made getting up and down the floors quick. There's a nice grand entrance. The pool was very refreshing on the hot weekend. The jacuzzi was much larger than others I've seen--You know...that awkward feeling that there are too many people in the spa--Not here! There's nice pool seating in and outside of the area. Lots of parking--They offer Park and Stay with the shuttle service when you're a guest--thanks for saving me money by not paying airport parking! Very clean too I might add. As a brand new property, they were already having their carpet cleaned during my stay. Now that's an added touch. Those guys were probably the friendliest contractors I've ever encountered.
